Most everything is OFF limits in the high country due to the extreme dry weather.
I’ve called numerous counties and not only do they have a burn ban but they also have a firearm ban. Only places right now are organized shooting facilities.
I adhere to them. Starting a fire up there and getting it tracked to you would be expensive.
Since you’re in Parker Golden gun club is a pretty cool spot. Check them out. There are also a couple places around Elizabeth if you google them.

Stage 2 fire bans. I wouldn’t want to be accused of starting a wildfire.

As much as I hate gun ranges, I suggest using one of you need to go shoot. I will just wait until it cools off and wet weather. I’ve been known to go shooting in Divide area at 8*;)

Yes there is. I use a public open gun range off 67 or head back into the Haymen burn area. I only go during the weekdays though, when I had guns.

Yes. She is a yoga instructor in Colorado Springs.

Kinda strange turn of events, but Predator 4x4 in the Springs has the Hayman Fire area adopt a 4x4 trails (Hacket, Longwater, Metberry). We lost access to these fun trails for all those years, and people were pretty upset with the 5 deaths and all the homes/destruction. I was one of those people. One of my favorite riding and off-roading areas.

Over the years, the owners of Predator 4x4 forgave Terry and work with the public image of how we get back to the way it was. It turned out to be more productive and eventually opening these trails back up.

Fords just don't change. We had to strap 3 TJs together to get the EB out since it broke down. Go figure.

My oldest daughters first snow experience was in the Hayman burn area.

SMH! I’m new to Colorado and extremely dry conditions, I would’ve never thought about it, but I’m really happy that I asked first. I didn’t even think shooting was an option until I driving on a random back dirt road and saw two guys pulled over with targets set-up on the side of a hill.

I drove out to Harstel on Monday to show my Mom, who is here for a visit to show her some Bison near the Antero Reservoir. I snapped a few pics of the Weston Pass fire (from a safe distance and not impeding any of the emergency workers). fullsizeoutput_17b9.jpg fullsizeoutput_17b3.jpg

This just infuriates me to no end. Obviously people don't just sit back for a second and think "is this a good idea and what else can happen? Is there a big picture here?"

the one that drives me crazy is that they can't clean up after themselves. as a gun toting four wheeler who spends a lot of time working adopt a trails, i flip out. it's so easy...lay a tarp down, stand on it and shoot. roll it up and take your crap with.

That works great for the people that sit in one spot.

If you have multiple targets and move during the evolution, it gets a bit more involved.

Still no excuse. It takes time, and sucks a little bit, but it’s part of the sport.

This is one of the major reasons I no longer belong to an off-road club. I got tired of always cleaning up gun ranges, and shooting clubs didn’t want to do shit or even help out. So I said “I’m out” and have been way happier since.

so because shooters made messes, you don't support the clubs that are working to keep trails open? doesn't make sense

Makes perfect sense. I don’t clean up other people’s messes. Do you mow the peoples lawns in your neighborhood that are overgrown and not following the covenants? Of course you don’t. I call the city enforcement or HOA (I know you don’t live in that kind of area, same as I don’t).

A good portion of the time, I was cleaning up Rampart Shooting range. What trail was that? Highway 67 north shooting range. What trail is that? Simple answer, it isn’t a trail.

Old Stage Rd has been shut down for shooting for the first 18 miles. I love that the forest service shut it down. I grew tired of having idiots shooting bulits in my direction. Eagle Rock was another moron magnet. That shit show is still open, but I just refuse to go up there anymore.

There are trails that any morron with 33’s can go on, and people shoot on them. I don’t use those trails. I use the trails that 40” tires get swallowed up. I clean and do work days on those trails. Oddly enough, I never clean up spent casings. Coincidence? I think not.

If these trails get shut down, so be it. NFG.
