I know they are owned by vets, have great videos, and have great names for their blends, but I don't like Black Rifle. Tastes like cardboard. We have a Keurig for daily drinking but for weekend enjoyment we have a Melita drip. There is a specialty shop in a nearby town called Holy Grounds that has some really good coffee by the pound. They have a Swiss chocolate orange that is really special. Hands down my fav coffee is from Guatemala. My son brought some back from a medical mission trip. Apparently its all consumed locally rather than exported. Ive seen Guatemala labelled coffee that was grown in Colorado. Not even close. I've actually considered trying to import it myself.

I grind my own Columbia dark roast beans (Peet's).
French Press using H2O filtered through a solid carbon block.
A tablespoon of pure Maple syrup is added to each cup for smoothness.

Yep same here usually two cups in the morning before work then 2-3 DD’s during the day
Probably 1-2 times a month I’ll splurge on a $6 Starbucks or other snobby coffee house

One thing for sure is I have to have it:annoyed:

Starbucks coffee sucks, but most people don't go there because they like the coffee.

Keurig Kcups, just because they are easier. H-E-B (grocery store chain in south Texas) has their house brand kcup coffee and I prefer the Taste of Old San Antonio. They have it in whole beans as well, which I used to get long before the Keurig was in the picture. I prefer light or medium roast for the higher caffeine content with a few breakfast blends that I resort too if I don't have TOSA.

I thought one of those old coffee siphon makers would be cool but I damn near have an aneurysm waiting for the Keurig to warm up.

    This thread got me thinking....
Are people grumpy in the morning because they havent had coffee? Or is it the coffee that gets the first bowel movement going and then you cheer up?

Best coffee I ever had was in the Dominican Republic (not Punta Cana, the real DR also for a medical mission). Very bold and dark but the smoothest I’ve ever had. I had to keep asking them if it was hot chocolate or coffee. They got a good chuckle out of it. Isn’t exported though. :/

Here I use gevalia French roast as it’s properly ground to espresso fine. It’s also very rich with out being bitter or burnt. Most other French roasts are not. Run that through a melita 10 cup with a thermal stainless carafe. And as @ColoradoTJ pointed out, my super dark roast lacks some firepower, so I add a shot of various high octane nespresso pods (intensity level 6+ only) to it. A tiny bit of stevia, and ½ & ½ to bring the temp down from 203.

I do enjoy a Starbucks red eye from time to time. Depending on the dark roast they have available. Their espresso roast is great and pikes is easily their worst blend, IMO. If their dark is not available, or it’s something I don’t care for, an Americano will do the trick.

Jacob's Kronung is maybe my favorite. It's a German brand. Maybe because of nostalgia? You can get it at the commissary or Wally World for about $10-12.

For eight dollars, less than the price of less than a pound of the above coffees, I can buy over three pounds of Folgers. I get it at Costco. Plus, when I'm done I have a really cool plastic contain to put stuff in.

For me personally, it is good enough.

On special occasions I will drink something different.

I am recently retired and I joke that drinking Folgers, developing a taste for the cheaper things in life, is all part of my financial retirement plan.
