I have the same Semi truck fascination. Ever play 18 Wheeler on the PS3? You have to maneuver, back up, park, an 18 wheeler with an overhead view. One of my favorite games ever.

No but I’ve seen it! I don’t have a PS3. But that game made me want to go get one LOL.

I guess I must just be lucky.

I just never understand the "women can't drive" theme. Guys thumping their chest - not letting the women drive. Everyday I see jack wagons that have their ladies drop them off at work......however, they have to be the ones to drive TO work. Then, they get there, and the lady has to get out and switch seats to drive the car away. WTF is up with that?

Hell, I let my daughter drive my truck sometimes. She is 17. I imagine that most of you would lose your minds over something like that. I just made sure to teach how to drive bigger vehicles (I also made sure she knows how to drive a manual - her vehicle is a 2000 Xterra with a manual transmission). And, if she effs up my truck - that would suck. But you know what? It's just a machine - I can fix it (unless it is severely effed up, then I can just replace it).

Now, I understand that their are shitty ass drivers everywhere - but I would claim that I see more idiotic male drivers than I do female drivers.

I don't understand why there are bad drivers. As I said before - it just isn't that hard of a thing to do. But then again I don't understand a lot. Perhaps the problem is with me and my perceptions....

The Woman managed to get my old F1-Shitty, SuperCrew, 6.5ft box into a tiny spot at the hospital once. Even I was second guessing if it would fit. That truck was like an crude oil tanker with how fuckin' long it was. Took a little work but she got it in (giggidy). I was impressed.

She's not a bad driver, just hesitant. Fortunately, I do teach as we go. When I'm doing something outside her skill level I talk her through it so she understands what I'm doing and why. If she shows an interest in learning, then I teach. Some things she's just happy to let me do, like pull trailers.

Then there's the problem on my end...I don't like riding as a passenger in any vehicle. I love driving and prefer to be behind the wheel. Some of my friends even let me drive their vehicles while they ride shotgun because they know I just like driving. LOL

I will still sit there and watch a good truck driver park the rig. I don’t know how they do some of the things they do.

This. I learned to drive at 13y.o. using a '67 Ford one ton truck with a 9' bed (welder and dually extra rear set of tires resold to cover cost of purchase). Developed confidence and can drive anything. Years later, drove a bucket truck for a cable company any time I needed to-- no additional training and no collisions.

My mom (single parent during my teens) used to haul a stock trailer and taught me the trick of positioning my hands at the bottom of the steering wheel when backing a trailer: turn the wheel towards the same direction the trailer needs to go. I've never forgotten and required no additional training to back trailers. Good spacial perception helps though-- and not everyone had that.

Mom sounds like a total badass! She would’ve got along well with my mom. My mom taught me how to drive manual. Although she didn’t know I’d been taking the car out when she was gone LOL.
