I have a low profile cross-bed diamond plate toolbox on my truck (pictured below). I’d like to buy a tonneau cover to use for gear and luggage when traveling, but I don’t want to lose the toolbox. I know they make the toolboxes that sit inside the bed under the cover, but that’s not what I want. I want to keep my current box.

Is this possible? Are there tonneau covers on the market designed to be installed with a toolbox in place? If so, are they permanent installs or easily removed? I’d like to be able to remove the cover easily when I’m not traveling or when I need to use the bed. Anybody have any recommendations? What material/brand/style is best?

i used to have a tool box when i had my tacoma, when i bought my tundra it already had a cover. i just got a large plastic tote and keep it in the back up next to the cab. i don't keep anything really valuable in it though,
mainly tow straps, tie down straps, and jumper cables. i removed the box from under the back seats, and just keep a bunch on stuff in tool bags there, plenty of room for me.

Thanks. For some reason when I googled it myself, I kept coming up with the in-bed toolboxes.

Looks like none of them work with a low profile box, which is what I have and what I prefer. I’ll do some more digging, but looks like there isn’t an option for me at this time.

If you're not stuck on keeping the same box, consider Diamondback's 270 with your choice of cross bins.

Check out the Access Tonneau Cover Toolbox bed cover. Got mine last year for $471.75 and it was also offered for free shipping.
