2018 Crewmax base model RWD White
    Hi everyone,

I've been reading the forums for a week now. I just bought my first new vehicle, a white base model 2018 Crewmax. I wanted the bench seat for the knee room. The cost savings was great too. I don't need the four wheel drive. I really like the truck, especially the giant rear seat area. More leg room in the back than the front! Amazing.

My idea is for cup holders. I want to mount some to the frame of the front center seat headrest. This way they will sit up higher than mounting them to the floor. I do not want to cut up the original. Does anyone have one? I'll be hitting up junkyards next.

Do I even need a headrest to modify? Can I just get some posts?

    Great forum. Thanks,

    John D

Welcome from CO too! I don't have the bench but someone should chime in who does. That base version will allow you to do a lot of things yourself.

Are you looking to add cup holders for front or rear passengers or both? Can you take picture showing where you want to do this?

I have the same bench seat and the console /armrest is the back of the middle seat in the bench. When the seat is folded down the head rest is pointed toward the A/C controls and you could mount something to the headrest (rods ) that go down into the seat back. That what I got from it anyway

So the base bench doesn’t come with cup holders on the back of the center seat? No storage compartments? Or are you trying to add more and larger cup holders?

I have the bench seat but its more of a 40 20

Welcome from NC! Great color choice and I can understand why you would need some cup holder mod as white is the fastest color. Going as fast as we do with such a clean truck can make us thirstier than those that drive slower colors. I don’t have bench seats so unfortunately I am unable to assist but again, welcome!

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I see there is controversy over the white color being fast or slow? Should I get a pick and add speed holes or not?

But on the headrest, which years and models interchange? There is a headrest on eBay that looks identical to mine. Says it fits 2007-13 double cab. I have a 2018 crewmax.

And to clarify what I want to do, my front center seat back has a console with two cup holders but I would like more. I want to use the headrest assembly as a mounting point. It would put the drinks right where my hand rests, rather than back by my forearm/elbow where the seat back holders are.

I really liked the Crewmax center console. It had lots of cup holders and storage. My knees however wanted a little more room so I got the 40/20/40 "bench". I'm trying to improve my cup holder options a little.

I once saw a truck with a fabricated lap top platform that mounts using the existing console headrest holes. I’m sure the same can be done with cup holders.

Maybe there is a way to use the two holes where the headrest attaches. If possible get another headrest, take it apart and use it as the foundation for the additional cup holder.

This might be an insane thought... but...

Could you use roll cage bar clamps, attached to the original headrest posts, as cup holders? They come in a variety of diameters, are easy to adjust, and are usually really cheap

That's my idea, using the headrest frame minus upholstery as the base for a cup holder mount. I need to know if there are other models or years I can pull the headrest from. I don't want to cut up my original headrest.

Thanks for the likes on the idea everyone. I think it will be a nice addition. Hope I can find another headrest soon.
