Short answer, yes. The TRD dual replacement does just that.

just got a Tundra and was looking at that system. is the price on your site only the mid section? and then i'd need to buy the TRD tailpipes separately? 2017 model.

Yessir. Price is for muffler section. You would need to purchase tailpipes from your local dealership.

The pic shows the tailpipes bolted up for demonstration purposes.

Really, what was the temp before? And what device do you use to measure the temp? What is new temp after exhaust install? Just curious I’ve never heard of such a thing.

Temperature gauge. The gauge indicates a lower reading with Dual exhust.. as compared to the stock exhust.
    Not rocket science.

It’s common sense. Dual exhust flows freely removes HOT exhust gases more efficiently...

What type of effect will an TRD aftermarket exhaust have on gas mileage?

I'm at 15mpg now and I would hate to go lower than that.

Your results are very interesting. If the literally hundreds of exhaust systems that I’ve tested I’ve never seen a single one show a different temperature (I’m assuming you’re referrring to coolant temp?)

Are you looking at the needle on the dash, or are you using a scanner to see the actual temp?

I don’t see anything as aggressive, I’m trying to better understand the previous statement about temperature.

Our trucks were designed by Toyota to run best with single exhaust, until you install long tube headers;)

I’ve never specifically tested mpg with Trd exhaust. But I have tested driveability. And there is better low end torque with a single exhaust.

You can make duals work, but you need a proper x pipe. Even then, a properly built single exhaust has better low end torque than a dual exhaust with x pipe.

Yes fluid temp. The gauge is lower with dual exhust then with single.
I do notice that the lack of back pressure
Has robbed the performance under aggressive acceleration.

I have noticed the drop in low end torque
With Dual exhust. But it sounds so good.
So the long tube headers will give a restriction effect allowing back pressure to build.

So long tube headers will create enough back pressure to aid in low end torque..
I wonder if a remote controled in-line valves would work. To achieve back pressure

It’s not back pressure that you want. Back pressure is an unfortunate side effect of sizing the exhaust small enough for scavenging to occur at the rpm you’re lookin for it to happen.

Ultimately the exhaust would get bigger as rpm goes up. And smaller as rpm goes down. Then scavenging would happen and there would be no back pressure.

Long tube headers release a massive amount of back pressure. You can size them way bigger since the length of the runner is way longer and scavenging happens way sooner with a longer runner.

I am interested in the TRD replacement. I'm just not sure which one. Debating between the mild and medium but have no clue if the medium may be too loud. Do you think you will be doing any group buys anytime soon?

Neither is actually very loud. Even loud is still kinda mild compared to what we can make:)

    Call for details. 760-877-4234

Keith what is your typical lead time for a stainless steel standard budget system for a 2018 CrewMax?

    Hi Keith,

What about using a H pipe rather than a X pipe on a dual system?
Basically, H Pipe, 2.5 piping, 2 mufflers, 2.5 piping, 2 exits towards the rear like the TRD
Will a single exit exhaust still provide more low end torque?

Hey there keitg. I am in the market for a new Mod.... I currently have my truck in the shop, but right after that. 2017 tundra sr5 crewmax...

Here is what I'm looking for. .. some sound but not too much. My main priority is making sure I don't lose any power for towing, but still have a nice growl when accelerating. I had a magnaflow on my Tacoma but everyone seems to love your product. I'm ok with dropping behind the axle or running all the way through, but I do NOT want too much sound resignating in the cab.

Let me know what u have for me... Or anyone... What are suggestion with the prooducts

The way Keith explained it to me I believe you will be best suited with the 8" system. I was on the phone with him a few weeks ago going over the same questions. I wanted a little bit more growl so I went with the 6" and it's supposed to be here on the 20th as per FedEx. Can't wait!
