I hadn't noticed this thread before but I did this for the 1st time yesterday. I was stuck in road construction and a guy I work with (gmc fanboy) was behind me. I rolled down the back glass and gave him a gesture. The look on his face was priceless

My roll down back window was the reason I bought my first gen. It's my most favorite feature. I test drove it at the dealership for a used car inspection (I'm a tech) was driving, saw the switch, rolled it down, went back to the dealer and told the GM to hold the truck because I'm buying it!!!

Honestly, this is my first truck and I was amazed that nobody else could do it. I open it all the time, especially when parked. I'll leave it down about a 1/2" to let the heat out. Almost looks like it's not even open. Seems like such a logical thing to have versus the drive-thru window all the other trucks have. You want fries with that?

Designers are not logical, if they were we wouldnt have a fuse box under the dash that you have to lay on your back over the seat and gear shifter and still cannot see the dang thing.

You guys just have to make us DC owners jealous... Every time I start driving and it's hot in the truck I think to myself "damn, I forgot to go in the back and slide the window open again" instead of hitting a button. Why does my dad's 2005 have this but my 2017 doesn't? Is the CM window shape different?

The whole reason for buying my truck was the roll down rear window.

I'm surprised your truck doesn't have the button controls for the rear window, as mine does. It's the switch in the left bank by the knee, bottom right corner.

Can you imagine having to reach back there to open some dopey midget window? What a pain that would be.

I'm 64 years old, and I'll let my rear window down in a heartbeat if another brand of truck is behind me. Haha, I love my truck.

A Honda ridgeline was in front of me the other day, apparently they have a small window like 1ft×1ft that is power. Anyhow he proceeded to show it off so I got in front of him and rolled mine down.

Ha ha ha Honda ridgeline that's cute.

Your sideways sliding window has power? I've never heard of that before, is it by the tow/haul button? I'll have to take a look but I don't remember seeing anything there. But this could be like my tow mirrors I didn't know could extend either .

Sure does, button is 2 buttons over from the cargo light switch (middle one is a blank for me), down by my left knee. It wouldn't surprise me if it's a small difference between Canadian and US models, just like how I can't get a TSS model up here. Makes me wonder if there's any other differences in our TRD Off Road models

I have the best answer...How do you open your slider? I have a regular cab, so it's only a small reach. The double cab, you pretty much climb in the back and open the window?

On the CrewMax, you hit a button. :D

My slider is power operated. Has a button on the dash just like the CM. I sit in my comfy seat and press the button and it opens. Give it a little pull and it closes.

    Edit to add pic.

Nothing fancy on mine, It's just an SR5. Not sure what all that's supposed to get you. It does have a backup camera in the mirror though.

Hey guys, long time tacoma world member here but I was thinking about switching over to a tundra and a large part of that has to do with the rear window... So to be clear the only configuration of a tundra with the full sliding rear window is in the crewmax which is only offered with a 5.5' bed?
