Just bought a slightly used pair with HIDs in them. I am waiting on the shipping atm.

I am curious if anyone has 3rd gen spyders with HIDs in them. I think spyders come with projectors for the halogens. Not even sure if thats accurate or not... I'd love to see a light output of them. I do not know if the ones I have bought have halogen or stock projectors. Pic is the ones I bought and waiting on shipping to arrive atm. Should I also change the projector?

I'd love to see some output spread shots if possible. I know none of you woke up today planning for this but I'd really greatly appreciate it. I am on the fence about ordering a projector kit from retrofitsource. I dont want to touch it if I dont need to.

I have LEDs in mine, but I’ve heard HID is brighter with projectors.. I’ll see if I can snag some pics tonight

it was pouring rain last night, so I didn't get to snag a pic.

but I will tell you, the OEM housing with my aftermarket bulbs had 10x the output of the spyder projectors.

don't get me wrong, spyders look badass, but the output is not there IMO. I have aftermarket LED fogs as well, honestly think those have better output than these projectors.

I was on the highway and turned my fogs off and I felt like I had no lights on. but Im use to my previous set up, which would light up overhead highway signs from 1/4 mile lol

@4x4_Angel is gonna be impressed if I can ever ship the damn things lol

Yea I know about the rain I am in Victoria 2hrs south of 59 for you.

I guess you've confirmed my thoughts. HIDs without proper projectors is just not good. I am going to contact retrofitsource to see if their projector bulb combo requires opening the lights or not. If it can be done without opening the lights, I will do it.

Just found the installation guide it does require opening them up. I am not really okay with that. I guess I am going to sell them instead of putting them in.

yeah I wouldn't mind replacing the projectors with something a little more high quality, but just the thought of moisture in my headlights makes me cringe. if you have the cash and can have them built for $1200-1500, id do that. at that price they would come with warranty. IMO not worth it unless you have some FU money under your pillow

Much prefer that 18LEDs and TRD pro grille with color matched surround for less than that money on headlights :)

couldn't agree more, good luck parting with the spyders. shouldn't have a problem selling them
