Question: I plan on putting these on my 2015 dc, was wondering if on your truck with no air in bags if it would raise the height of the rear of the truck,I’ve run 6122/5160 Holsteins which leveled truck just the way I want and don’t want any height due to air bags.

I had these on a Tacoma. Minimum suggested air pressure is 5psi, they say don't run them at 0. At 5psi there was no lift in the rear at 40psi it could jack up the rear a couple inches probably. Even at 5psi the truck rode a bit stiffer, but those Tacoma leaf springs were so bad and weak. These worked wonders on that truck.

The best thing you can do it get a weight distribution hitch. You can also look into helwig helper springs, sumo springs, superbumps, in addition to air bags. I believe airbags are the most likely from the above choices, to affect your ride quality when you aren't towing or hauling.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.

Especially if you're planning to haul anything.

I have bags on my truck, accompanied with some Icons. They certainly help the ride, especially if there's a load in the bed. I don't think i've ever had more than 15 psi in them.

If you have any lift/leveling to your ride and you're going to haul (a travel trailer) I would highly recommend a weight dist. hitch, like the Equal-i-zer.

    None, yet....
This X2. I have a pro and it sagged with my car hauler. After looking at all the helper spring options, I learned about the WDH and it's the best choice for what you seem to be looking to do. Also has other benefits, like sway control and the ability to back up with it attached.

Installed and used properly, air bags will not add any height when empty. When loaded, they should only be aired up enough to offset any squat. They are not intended for lifting.

Dont mean to hijack your thread, but will airbags help when my bed is loaded?, we went camping and the rear was pretty low..I do plan to tow a trailer in the future but for now just load on the bed.. thanks.

Yes they would help a lot. So would helper sprigs and maybe even different bump stops

I would add a leaf if I was under constant bed load (eg; owned a topper, regularly hauled), airbags if I towed all the time, or Sumos/Timbrens if I occasionally towed. S/T’s have a floating space under the frame when not towing so don’t affect the day-to-day ride unless you hit them when going over bumps and potholes.

Whichever system and when towing, I’d use a WDH rated for the tongue weight.

Does adding a leaf lift the rear?
