As I wait for my bedslide boxes to arrive and my appointment for artic coating, I figured a nice cheap easy addition was in store. I broke my cardinal rule that it not only got to look cool but also serve a purpose. Just kinda looks cool and I think goes nice with the black n red interior of the pro. Wait a second, I just thought of a purpose. To be different? Yeah that's it, that works for me. I jumped in on the Tufskinz memorial day sale. Seems like a solid product. Something to consider, if anyone wants to rid themselves of the chrome ring a.c. vents, the co also sells peel and stick rings for that too. Eventually when I get all the bigger things done, I'll figure out what I'm going to do with that hideous chrome cup holder blinder and a.c. vents

Came like this, just clean, peel, and stick

    Rear cup holder set

And the middle console 7 piece package

Just a little install advice. If u happen to be blessed like me with the ocd gene, spend the extra 10 seconds to line your grains up matching them all flowing east/west, left/right, ect. If u zoom in on mine u can see my OCD in action, how I had to have them all with the grains going the same way, looking the same.

No offense to anyone who didn't do that and already installed them, but that would drive me crazy. It's really only the cup holders where that can get thrown off. I'm guessing many just don't care and it don't bother them. Just trying to help anyone OCD'd up like myself, who might decide to get these, where little things like that might drive them crazy, avoid installing them all and realizing at the end when they're all set and can't do anything about them, help avoid the lines not flowing the same and it smacks u in the face everyday being the 1st thing u notice when u jump in ur truck. If u zoom in on the cup holders u can see what I mean about the lines matching up.

Tnx Jacob. How long have u had yours? Have u noticed any negative to them besides the extra weight in handling and the 4 inches of height u lose in bed storage? Did u do anything like adjust or upgrade brakes, or notice any extra sooner wear and tear due the weight?

I'm hoping the function of it, especially with my bed cover being a diamondback and how it is secured to the bed by the middle top section would make for getting things out the front very tough if it couldn't be accessed by picking it up reaching over the side rails. I'd have to jump up in the bed and crawl under it if it was heavy and i couldnt reach or lift by unlocking the near cab portion of cover. I noticed i was hardly ever distributing the weight of anything I'd transport in bed due to this. Kinda just stacking it up toward the rear. Obviously that impacts the handling as well. Now with this addition I can simply drop the tail and pull to me anything I would need all the way up to the cab. Do u have the bins too or just the slide?

Time to update. So I mentioned to a buddy at work if he came across a deal on a good looking bedslide to let me know. So he found this, a bedslide 1000 pro se. They usually sell for $1200 and I got the seller down to $400.
    5493316911.jpg

It looks so much better in my truck lol
    20180530_191133.jpg

So I decided to sell my upper cross bin, sale pending, and just posted the driver swingbox in for sale thread to make room for the bin system. I'm keeping the cargo net and covercraft cargo bar for now until i figure out if I'll ever need or be able to use them again. For now they sit in my bins.
The frame the slide sits on looks like this and is secured by 4 bolts. Bedslide sells the riv nut kit for like 20 bucks I want to say. It comes with 4 bolts, washers, lock washers, riv nut, and tool. The riv nut acts like an anchor for screws in sheetrock when there's no stud. After u drill 4 3/8 pilot holes then move frame our way to make them 1/2 inch holes. The tool they give you pushes the anchor into the bed and as you screw in the bolt it expands in the base of bed.
    20180616_163223.jpg

I also had to remove the sides and rear off the slide the way I purchased to install the bins.
    20180616_124520.jpg

Once anchoring the frame to bed it was time to install the rails starting with adding the rear rail between the 2 existing sides.
    20180616_164620.jpg

Next time to add the rear rail and 2 corner brackets.
    20180616_175201.jpg

After that I got caught up in the install and didn't take anymore step by step pics. However after the back rail and brackets, the upper side rails were next. They come the length of the bed and since I got the mini kix too along with the upper side bins, I had to place the smaller rear bins and cut the upper side rails. The mini kix are 18 inches but sit further off rear of slide. So I put them in position and just marked an extra inch. This is how much I cut off with my dremel, about 15 inches. To allow the mini bins to fit with an extra inch between them and the upper side rails. This also allow me some space to squeeze another tie down between.
    20180618_003730.jpg

After that it was time to mount the upper side rails. After that theres 2 brackets that you attatch to those upper sides that hold onto the upper side bins. Once you secure them you mount the support bracket to the rears going across the upper side bins. Once you do all that this is how it looks before the mini kix toward rear.

    20180616_222213.jpg

The mini kix simply mount directly to 2 sliding tabs in the lower side rails with 2 screws in each 2 tabs, repeat other side and when complete looks like this.
    20180616_231536.jpg

Whoolah, bam, complete. It's not a crazy hard install, if you're handy like me with some tools it's very capable of doing yourself. I'm very anal and try to do things perfectly, I probably take longer than the average Joe to do things like this. It took me the better part of the day. I started early afternoon and went close to midnight. Bunch of little small breaks in between. Lot of thinking involved on my part, placement of the downs, and making sure I got it exactly the way I wanted before I cut or locked it down all the way.

Looks killer, and beyond functional. I can finally load things all the way up to the cab without having to crawl under the middle section of diamondback bed cover that does not lift up and open. At the rear of the truck I can load and unload, grab tools, and recovery gear without even opening the cover and certainly not having to crawl up into the bed anymore. What an awesome product. It do got some weight to it, probably little over 200 lbs with the whole system, but it's a pickup, I didn't get this truck or any other mod I have to conserve or worry about mpg. Got the ol lady a Camry hybrid for that.
    20180529_183724.jpg

So all done, here it is. Any questions feel free. From bedslide it came in 3 big long boxes packaged well and cost about 600. So in total around 1k for this awesome setup. I couldn't be happier with it and the very next day already put it to use going fishing with the fam for father's day. Poles, tackle boxes, and coolers all fit nicely and loaded up bed from front to rear. Best part didn't even open cover or climb in bed. Just pull standing at rear of truck.
    20180616_233554.jpg 20180617_004221.jpg 20180617_004237.jpg 20180617_012645.jpg 20180617_012734.jpg 20180617_175347.jpg 20180617_175413.jpg 20180617_175503.jpg 20180617_210213.jpg 20180617_210125.jpg 20180617_210154.jpg

Besides the common sense benefits of the slide, it makes great use of those dead spaces with in the wheel wells and above them. There's literally only 2 negatives if u want to call them that. The added weight and the fact that the slide causes you to lose 4 inches of height in the bed. Besides that, nothing but positives. Even taking that into consideration, I feel those being the only 2 areas of giving up something to get something, that the pros of this system far outweigh the 2 very small cons imo.

After doing a ton of research on them, and speaking to other bedslide owners they all have nothing but great things to say about having them. After speaking to the owner of bedslide, he said the only thing that could eventually wear out or fail after extended periods of hard usage is the slide systems rollers or bearings themselves. He assured me it's also an easy and inexpensive fix to replace that component if 1 day it decided to fail so I felt very comfortable purchasing the slide itself used. He was even willing to send in my shipment, free of charge, the 2 end rail caps that my slide was missing when I purchased it.

All in all, I'm very happy with this addition and time will tell how it holds up to years of almost daily usage. I can almost guarantee I'm going to get my money worth out the bedslide and it's 5 bin package. I can already see myself saying 1 day in the not too distant future, "damn, how did I ever go so long without having 1 of these, how difficult my life was before I had this thing." Any questions feel free.

Before I dropped off my love to get an artic coating, I had to give it a going away present. I'm really hoping I got it right this time. This will be the 3rd hitch I've bought in the past couple months losing some on each mistake.

I returned the hook since I do lot more towing than pulling and didn't want to change each time I towed. I know lazy right. It was also too big and a little too gaudy for my liking.

Then I thought I was all set with the Hitchworks lighted step/tow hitch. I really liked it even spent the time and money hooking up the cube lights to reverse and in cab switch. It's a good quality product, however the shank measures 11 inches from top to bottom. Since I do lot of towing off road I only needed to use it once to find out it was too low to the ground for my lift. In ruts and uneven areas I heard it scraping and figured it was only a matter of time before I bent something or got myself caught up.

So I bit the bullet and ponied up for a 10k Gen Y torsion hitch with a 5 inch drop. It sits much tighter and not too low to the ground. Towing thousands of lbs of firewood off-road on pretty bumpy uneven terrain it should be a perfect fit giving me more control and less wear on the greatest pickup in the world.

It's made to flex and bounce up and down every time the truck or trailer hits a bump. It's also reversible so you can position either way with more lift/drop up or down. You can see this difference with the 2 pics directly from behind. Each pic the hitch is flipped over. I'm really hoping I got it right this time around and time will tell soon. It's a beast. There's no need for any other trailer hitch with this. I can put in the tri ball and tow anything. Even has a pintle attatchment. Also has a built in tongue weight scale. If I wanted I could put a step, bike rack and or hook into a slot and still tow, all at same time. You can put into a slot anything that has a 2 inch shank, even multiple at 1 time. It seems very well built and tough. Love the way it looks too. Will report back once I put it to the test. This thing better kick add bc it cost an arm and a leg.

I like that bed slide! 4” is not as much as I though you would lose. How many holes do you have to drill for it? They don’t make a bolt on once for our trucks?

Tnx brother. Yeah I love it. Yeah it's only 4 inches so not bad. The older slide I got requires to drill (4) 1/2 inch holes in bed. The newer ones are lighter and made of composite. I also am pretty sure the newer ones have a mount system wirh brackets that require no drilling. If u look at a couple install vids on YouTube u can prob see how the newer ones mount without drilling holes.

    ARTIC COATING

Holy shit, this stufflooks amazing for initial impressions. I even drive through what looked like a water main break OMW home from picking up the truck and there was no water or dirt to be found around wheels, rear bumper, wheel wells, ect.

Minus the 1 scratch on my Front bulge and tip of hood, the truck looks brand new. They did a phenomenal job on the paint correction. It looks like a brand new truck off the lot despite being 2 years old and going thru automated washes before this.

I'll update my washing experiences like how easy to remove dirt and how cuts down the time washing and drying. How it does staying cleaner longer and any other benefit or negative I find with experience.

I had it done at APC, auto polishing center in waldwick NJ. The place gets phenomenal reviews and now u can add mine to it. It's family owned and the owner Anthony is awesome. He gave me a loaner for free with the service, no paperwork, just here u go keys are in it. I dropped it Wed after work and picked up Fri after work. Places usually charge around $1200 all day long for this type of service, he even hooked me up on price. I guess owning Tundras before he got a soft spot in his heart for them. Either way he hooked me up and I can't say enough good things about him and his business.

Without further adieu, here it is, looking stunning .

Yeah they did a phenomenal job. It looks amazing right now. I want to just sit and stare at it. Almost looks like it just rolled out onto the showroom floor. I almost feel like it shouldn't be driven in anything but beautiful weather now lol. No, that's part of the reason I had it done. My truck is my daily driver and now when I park it next to construction type areas with big trucks and machines moving dirt and stone making a giant mess I'm hoping all that dust, dirt, and other shit just slides off soon as I hit highway. I'd wash my truck the day before, park it in the morning there looking great, and by the time I was ready to leave it looked horrible just sitting there. I've found this mgm color is like 1 small step easier to keep clean than black.

Even if that doesn't work, which it should stay clean longer, it will take much less to get it clean. It should cut down wash times by half from what I've been told by others who have it. Fingers crossed on both. I have already noticed driving it the past 3 days it still looks clean which is probably the longest I've got out of it still looking just washed.

And that artic coating...photos look great, but not even close to how amazing it turned out in person. Your truck makes me wish I had gone MGM! It was nice to meet you. Thanks again!

You're very welcome and it was nice to meet u as well. I enjoy helping others, and I can appreciate the fact it's always nice if you can experience or see something first hand before you go spending your hard earned money on something without the cold hard facts. I'm guessing many of us may or may not have made a certain in particular purchase if we were able to get that experience from someone else firsthand and before making the mistake ourselves. I wouldn't be on my 3rd hitch right now if I only had the ability to witness someone else with the same products I considered and purchased.

For the money I'm more than happy with the way the system sounds and it's a huge score in my book. It's money well spent imo considering it's something I enjoy on a daily basis and just how pitiful the stock system is. I mean, I don't even think we could call or should call Toyotas OEM speakers a system to begin with. It's 100% an area where they skimped out on and even the JBL system that Toyota claims as premium is truly garbage. No offense to anyone with the factory JBL and honestly JBL does makes some good stuff. It's just not a quality JBL product that toyota put into our trucks. I've heard both non JBL and JBL tundra systems and there's not a huge difference between them, they both suck donkey D. Considering I couldn't even hear my music on the highway all the way turned up just because the windows were down is pitiful. If my fiance was nagging or the kids were bickering I couldn't even turn it up enough to drown them out. My Nitto RGs are even quieter than the stock Michelins and it still didn't matter. It's for sure an area that Toyota looked to cut costs or keep costs down on.

I didn't think honestly what I was getting would sound that good myself since I didn't spend a fortune on it. I'm very impressed with all the Hertz speakers in doors(loud & clear) and 2 JL 10s(thumping) in sub. For a grown ass man at damn near 40, the system has way more than enough umph even for a guy who's damn near half deaf from working with loud ass machines and no hearing protection like a dumb ass all these years. Not caring to win sound system competitions, and not wanting to look like that high school douchey toolbag at a red light with only being able to hear the bass rattling every car and mirror within any proximity to me, I just wanted a louder than stock but clean sound and this system more than delivers imo. Matter of fact, the system has enough bass to be that guy, now I just go out of my way to turn it down but still thump, that way it sounds loud and clear with just enough kick to it. I like my music loud and listen to everything, but I don't want to be bothering others while listening to it. I've figured it out and found that happy medium to where it's loud, clean, and still kicks enough for me to enjoy it. But at same time it's not going to annoy the shit out of others or make me look like that young dumb kid with nothing but distorted bass rattling everything. Others will still hear me coming and that's just too bad for them, they will have to live with it, like I said I like my music loud and don't care too much how others feel about it, but at least I'm trying to be a little conscious of others around me and attempting to do my best to enjoy my music and not be annoying. There's definitely a fine line there.

For the coating it's another I can't believe it myself. You saw it today after picking it up exactly a week ago. Previously, I'd wash my truck, drive to work, and with all the big trucks and machines blowing dust and dirt it would literally look like it needed a wash the very next day. Literally, I could only get a couple days out of a wash before it looked filthy again and needed another. If I waited a week, where I park at work and drive daily, it would look filthy looking like I haven't washed it in months or longer. This 1st week of having the coating it's amazing. Anyone who has a black, MGM, or any other dark colored vehicle already knows how easy they show dirt. Before the coating, despite loving the look of a clean MGM truck, I was regretting my decision a bit to go with such a color.

Even though it's a truck and it does truck things, I try to take care of my stuff. I see no reason why someone should tell me it's a truck and not to worry if it gets dirty or I should beat the shit out of it like a truck is meant for. I'm not knocking those that do beat their vehicles off road, it's their money and should feel free to do such. It's just not me and it's not the reason I bought mine. I have other vehicles to beat up off road. This is my work horse. It's my daily driver. It gets me to and from work in the middle of huge snow storms. I use it to get firewood to supply my family with heat in the winter. There's many reasons I need this truck, but beating it up and not taking care of it, just isn't for me. Especially with such a big purchase, I want to be able to enjoy this truck forever, and only by taking care of it will I be able to.

With the coating it's a whole new ballgame. The MGM looks amazing being coated and the amount of dirt it repels is mind blowing.
On a hot day, I get up to about 60mph on the highway and within a minute most of the dirt just blows right off. Instead of rain ruining a good car wash, I've found with the coating it's simply a free no effort involved car wash. The water just beads up and slides off pulling the dirt with it. Even today I noticed my truck did have some dirt on it from not washing for a week however it was only really noticeable if I took my finger and slid it on the coating. I'd get some dirt on my finger yet the truck appears to remain looking pretty clean.

I can also tell u guys this. 100%, no questions asked, not a doubt in my mind about it. If the coating lasts at least the 2 years I was told it would, I will no doubt be getting it coated again in the future when this one wears out. I don't care what i have to do to get the money to do it again, I will no doubt find the money at all costs to have this reapplied down the road. I mean I haven't even got to see yet just how easy it is for me to wash it and already, just from what I've witnessed this week alone between repelling dirt and water this is a must have for me.

Figured I'd update. 1st before I get into the shit I've added recently. Let me update a little on my more recent additions.

Bedslide love it. Been using the hell out of it and will continue to do so.

Artic coating love it. This shit is amazing. 1st off, I use to wash my truck like 3 times a week on avg. Where I work is next to train tracks and since it's within the construction realm tandem and tri axle dumps cruise next to it kicking up dirt and dust. Since I got it I've only washed my truck twice over more than a month and the 1 time is bc I had it offroad in mud.The coating repels dirt, dust, and water like crazy. When it rains, instead of ruining the wash I just gave it, it's like getting a free car wash. The dirt, dust, and h2o just slide right off effortlessly. Soon as I jump on the highway, even without any water the dirt and dust just flies right off. Even when the truck is dirty it still looks clean.

Cleaning it is a breeze. Powerwash, foam cannon, rinse off and electric cordless leaf lower I'm done. In less than 30 min with setup and cleanup I'm done with a clean truck. It's pretty amazing.

If someone can explain how to load video I can show u guys something amazing. When I attempt it says wrong file. I'm just trying to add off camera phone same way I load a pic off phone. But it won't let me. Please do tell, I've got something pretty cool to show about the coating.

Oh yeah almost forgot. The gen y 10k torsion hitch. Another awesome product. Ive now towed a handful of times and feel like I can review this thing. It's a beast. Loading up with firewood my 16ft tandem trailer and even taking it off road while loaded this thing handles all u can throw at it. It separates the feeling between the truck and trailer. They now act independently of each other. Hitting bumps there is no longer that feeling u get when towing something heavy and the trailer making the truck feel harsh. U literally don't even know your towing anything because when u hit a bump, or the trailer you're towing hits a bump the hitch cancels the other out. That flex in the joint makes for a very smooth ride.
    IMG_20180619_135106_473.jpg

I didnt think it would help when towing my leg splitter since there's a large weight difference between it and my tandem trailer loaded with fire wood. However, even with that and the hitch made a huge difference. Although not very heavy, at 60 mph on the highway hitting bumps that things like to take flight. It use to bounce all over the place. It's now quiet back there. Soon as the splitter starts wanting to bounce the hitch cancels it out from the truck. Even though it will still bounce when it hits a bump, it stops immediately after and has no impact on what you can feel in the truck. The hitches flex immediately brings it to a stop and it will bounce independent from the truck. Same when the truck hits a bump while traveling. I no longer get that clunking around in whatever I'm towing. The truck hits suspension flexes and any remaining energy or force is eaten up by the hitch before it can reach whatever you're towing.

It's pretty amazing and I'm honestly in a bit a shock of how well it actually works. I was worried I spent a small fortune on a gimmick. I can assure you all, it's no gimmick, this thing works and anyone who either tows offroad or wants to eliminate all that feeling of whatever your towing clunking, slapping, and bouncing you around. If u get this u will be very happy you did.

If your not towing over 10k lbs, as you really shouldn't be, get the 10k gen y torsion hitch and you will be amazed by the feeling and control it gives you while towing heavy loads. The tongue weight scale works and the versatility of this hitch is unbeatable. You will not regret this investment both in the hitch and protection it offers for your vehicle. I guarantee this hitch will help in preserving the longevity of your suspension components as it eliminates all that shock caused by heavy towing, especially off road where components are taxed without towing. I'm pretty positive this hitch is much safer too towing heavy shit. I felt so much more in control of what I was towing. There's no slack or bouncing causing force on my truck. The truck tows with this hitch as if there's nothing behind it.

I'm a believer, you cant tell me this hitch isn't more safe, more versatile, and provides more protection for your truck's components. Everything good starts at that connection of the hitch, just the same as everything bad stops right at that connection between truck and trailer. Sway, bounce, slapping ect all ends at that connection. Safety and more control while towing, protection of your truck parts with elimination of extra wear and tear while towing, and just overall comfort and good feel are all provided by this hitch. Definitely awesome product I'm very happy with.

The seatbelts shoulder pads led me to want to fix 2 issues I felt needed a fix.

1 my steering wheel is just starting to wear in a couple spots. As much as I want to purchase the lonocky cover, I'm just not confident in my skills installing it. Although I've done most of everything i've done to my truck myself, the couple things I'm not positive I can handle myself I'll usually pay to have a professional do it. The prices I was getting were insane. So to at the very least resolve this issue and protect it from further wear until I get the courage and research how to best do the cover, I put this temp fix on it.

Let me start by saying I hate wheel covers. Think they are ugly as hell. I think I did pretty good with this one. It actually don't look bad for being a wheel cover. Goes with my interior nicely, puts that band aid on the problem until further notice, and price was only around $20eep]fr= . It actually feels pretty great in my hands. It may not be there forever, but for it being a bad situation, and making the best of it, I'm actually not too disgusted by it. It ain't bad at all, made by valleycomfy.

Now for my other fix you will have to stay tuned. That damn chrome cupholder. Figured I'd tie in the shifter too. This fix will be resolved with hydro dip and includes a metal rivet pattern. Should be on by next weekend.

Thanks, wasnt my first option but after looking into the wrap a bit, it's best for me at this time. It's comfy and don't look horrible imo despite being just a cover.

Do you have any before shots of your steering wheel? I scanned but I didn’t see any. If you aren’t happy with the wrap and the wheel just LOOKs warn you may be able to treat it with some 303 protectant which will bring out the natural color with a small amount of shine and protect it from further uv damage.

Spray the 303 onto one towel, work it over the steering wheel. Then rub down the dash (give it some time to sit), then take a dry cloth and buff off the 303. If you don’t wipe it down with a dry rag it will likely run.

If the damage is actually material flaking off it won’t repair that...

Hey TJ, tnx for trying to help I appreciate it. However I have tried putting the 303 protectant almost everywhere but windows and leather on my interior. Although it did what you mentioned to the wheel, making the treated parts look better than non treated, unfortunately it's actually wearing as in flaking off. It's the cheap rubber wheel, whatever it's called, think urethane, the same many others have had an issue with wearing off. But thanks anyway for trying to help. It is a great product and being used in my cleaning arsenal already.

NP! Just thought I’d mention it since I just found out about it. I’ve got the same standard steering wheel in mine. I’m hoping the 303 helps it last longer. I’ll eventually wrap it, but I want that on my time line, not the steering wheels lol

Yeah mine was the rubber one that came on pro. It's a 16 with 29k miles and it needed to be resolved or would look real bad soon. Hopefully that gives u an idea of when you'll need to do something to fix it. Up til now I had been applying the 303. It helps but the wheel is just shit. I've read a lot of people having wear issues.

Oh yeah - the truck is built to last... the same can’t be said for the steering wheel... I mean, I guess it sill works.. just seriously degrades the driving quality lol

Thanks for the info! I’ll probably take mine apart to wrap it. A few users on this form have done it and said that part of the job only took like 15 min. Just be sure to unplug the battery to avoid triggering the airbag...
