I just bought a 2016 DC TRD and it has plastic top rails but no liner. I want to have LineX sprayed in and I noticed on everyones pics in here the bed bolts are not sprayed? I asked the rep at my local place and they said they do not remove the bolts because when they retorque them it cracks the seam and allows water to get under it and or creates a fail point so they wont warranty it. I like the idea of the bed bolts not sprayed for possible removal in the future. Has anyone run into this issue and have any comments?

I had Line-X on my 2008. They gave me the option to spray them or remove /replace them. I chose the later. BTW - Line-X is high quality. Zero problems in 10-years of hauling several loads of firewood and medium size rocks (40-100 pounds each). I hope the factory spray-in liner performs as well.

I have not heard of anything like that... but I’ve had Line-X in all of my trucks since 2005... one I had for 9 years and never had an issue...

I think I will shop around for a different installer. Knowing how hard it would be to remove the bed bolts after being sprayed I cant see paying for that

I'm told some places don't like to remove them for fear they'll strip them - there fine thread, just make sure they're careful.

I’ve had LineX in the last 5 trucks I’ve owned. Definitely the best IMO. There is usually a lot of dealers around so shop around if they aren’t willing to do what you want. I always have them take the rail caps and bolts off. They also take the panel off the inside of the tailgat and spray separately in case you need to get inside (think pop and lock).
Word of advice, check out the shop and ask about their prep process prior to paying. LineX liner in itself is good product but unfortunately not all appliers are created equally.

Forward looking camera, Stub Antenna, 3M clearshield. A few other non lifted items.
My truck had bolts, U tie downs, rails removed for Linex. The Linex cures in 20 minutes from their site specs.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
My 2017 came with a factory spray from Toyota. The bolts are sprayed and the front 2 anchor points. The rear 2 are not sprayed.

I had them remove my bolts when my bed was sprayed. Although they didn’t tighten them enough. I noticed because my bed was making noise. So just make sure you re-torque them to the proper spec. But it also gave me a chance to realign the bed with the cab evenly.

What are some of the benefits of line x? Is it better then getting just a plastic liner? Stupid question I know, this is my first tundra and want to make sure I get what’s best for it! TIA

I haven't seen many real benefits other than it looks really nice. It's harder to slide things on it, which could be a good thing if you are worried about your cargo shifting, but not so good if you need to load it by yourself. It also doesn't protect your bed against dents. It costs 2x as much as an insert, as well.

I have a Duraliner plastic bed liner on order for my 2018.

In the end it's really your decision as to what you value most.

A plastic liner allows water and moisture to get trapped between your liner and your bed, which of course will lead to rust. Plastic liners also don't hold up to beatings as well as spray-on liners. You also get a lifetime warranty with Line-X, so if it ever chips off they'll respray it for you.

I had line-x sprayed last week. I think it’s worth getting the premium sprayed with uv protection. It was only 125$ more than the basic spray. I asked not to spray the 4 mounting points. They said they don’t spray those and also the bed bolts. I have the rail system and they removed it and greased the bolt holes before spraying. Then installed the rails again. They did a great job

Check the torque of your bed bolts. My guys forgot to tighten them up properly

That being said, what is proper torque for the bed bolts? My guys use a fricking impact to reinstall the tie down rail and striped 3 screws. Luckily, I was able to chase the threads and got some new OEM screws.

Wow...sounds like they didn’t know what they were doing. After stripping 1 bolt you think they would stop using the impact for those smaller bolts

It’s been a minute and I think I posted this somewhere before. 62 foot pounds comes to mind for the bedbolts

IDK what the hell he used, but pissed me off. 2 were cross threaded and 1 the head stripped. Though I can't believe how "light" the torque rating is for those screws.

I found a place called Campway who said they would remove the bolts if I adked them to but they spray something called SPI full metal jacket? Lifetime warranty. I will try to attach the email response.

I had the same done to my bed. They did an outstanding job, excellent re-assembly and masking. The premium is worth the extra money IMO, it really looks nice.

I got the entire bed sprayed, don't recommend taking out bed bolts, the bolt need to be metal to metal, only removed tailgate panel for easy access. line-x is best quality this is fourth truck sprayed. you can also get the outside of body, frame sprayed also, to prevent stone
    chips.

    Those look like Torx-head bolts?
Why not just mask off the female socket of the bolt, or drip some hot-melt glue into the socket, before taking it to the Linex shop?
Then the LineX could seal the bold-bed interface, you retain the metal-metal contact between bolt & bed, and the solidified glue could be chipped out of the bolt's female socket if ever necessary to remove bolt.

Went to install a pop and lock this weekend and when I took off my tail gate cover I noticed the company had stripped the plastic nuts the screws attach to. Is There a part number for these or does anyone know where to find replacements?

Just curious here for all the spray in bed liner fans. Why not just buy 5 cans of bedliner at the bigbox and do it yourself? This has got to be one of the easiest do it yourself ‘mods’ around? 5 cans at $7 each is about $35. Some blue tape for the perimeters and you are all good. Am I missing something? Can’t be harder than doing plasti-dips.
