    Introduction:

Those who don't know me, there's not much to know. I'm a nerd, I love my Tundra and fairly new to the world of outdoor exploration. This is my third Tundra, which isn't as "exciting" a reason as you may hope. So I won't go into it, but if you read through you may discover why and you'll see my previous trucks as well.

    This Thread:

Alright, so it happened again. Not fully by my choice, but here we are nonetheless. This will be Orion 2, a Platinum this go around. The intention is to hold onto this one until the redesign, but we'll see. Some of you will also be glad to see the new one is Super White.

Expect another corny "build" thread here. It'll be basic modifications and some cosmetic changes, and then brought out for some camping trips here and there.

    Anywho, enjoy!

    First Mod - The Darkening

Simple and easy, first thing to tackle was getting my windows darkened. As many do. I had our XR film applied, which has a higher heat resistance than our CS film, and is easier to see through from the inside, while being darker on the outside. It's early days with it, but we've had a few hot days already and I did notice the cab wasn't as hot as expected. So I'd say the XR is doing its thing.

I went with 20% on the front and added 35% on the rear windows in addition to the factory darkened glass. This was to gain the XR heat resistance, while also even more privacy for the rear seats.

Beautiful truck! I can’t wait to get rid of my chrome grill and bulge and go color matched. Looking forward to see your progression status and drool...

Any bets on how long @Krezz keeps this truck? :D

Working for Toyota would be a serious problem for me as well. I know from experience.

Second Mod - Full of Hot Air

With the previous truck I realized that due to the weight of my BAMF bed rack, RTT and camping gear, the sag was pretty noticeable and would bother me, because I didn't like the look of it. So knowing that I was probably swapping trucks I waited to install an air bag kit. Went with the Firestone kit, simple manual infiltrator system. We routed the valves out back beside the license plate. Keeps it simple to air up and down from. So far, I don't notice any drive difference. I keep about 8lbs in the bags at all times, they state 5lbs minimum. I haven't loaded up the RTT and Bed Rack back up yet, that should be all back together in about a weeks time. So, that'll be the first true test I guess. Will update on my thoughts at that point.

Had to spray paint the valve caps black... mental issues and all. :der:

It's been too soon to really tell. I don't notice much at all however. The Pro did sit in the front about 1" higher. She leaned bad with the weight however do to its stance.

LOL, it is a bad problem and terrible to have such access. However, I am telling myself 3 yrs... or redesign depending on how close and what I hear about the redesign.
    Time will tell

Good luck. I can’t even drive through our motor city dealerships areas anymore.

What’s even worse, the other night I was helping out a member do a CMC on his Cement CM Tundra. My wife comes out and says “I really like this color and the new body style” then goes back inside. Go figure.

Do you have plans for bag cradles for flex? I really liked my old set.

So I took off the 20s that the Platinum came with and went with an 18" Fuel wheel, the Ripper. It's a two tone black, which has a gloss black outer rim with a matte black centre. Really like the look of it, better than I thought when I chose it from the pictures. The offset is great as well. 18x9.0.

Wrapped them with the KO2s once again. LT275/65R18 so stock size.

Look at your first picture in post #17 and how the airbags are stretched out. This can cause damage. If I can remember correctly, in the owners manual for the bags, the techs are supposed to disconnect them from the axle. This is where the cradles are bad ass. No more worries offroad or in the shop on a lift.

Check into it. I could be mistaken.

Yeah that makes sense. Also correct on not supposed to be left at full extension. Will most likely look into getting this done. Better safe than sorry.

    Thanks man, more to come.

That I'm honestly not sure. Due to this TSSP stuff, the dealership themselves won't allow me to alter any of it, so I need to make sure that as it's a lease and my usual flip I can do something without them then refusing to buy it from me the way I do. I may if anything, do something that I can then swap back. Bilsteins probably, would love Icon but will see what I do with it in that field.

Fourth Mod - Rumble In the Concrete Jungle

So on my TRD offroad, I had gone with the aFe dual exhaust setup, which I really loved the sound of. Moving to the TRD Pro, it only made sense to use the TRD dual that was stock. It had great sound when accelerating, but I lost most of the throaty sound of the aFe. So this time around, it's all aFe, all the time, and I love having this rumble back with me. There's no "droning" sound I'd say, just a nice throaty growl as I accelerate and coast and certain speeds. Oh also blacked out the chrome with some high heat paint. Held up on my previous trucks well, expect the same this go around.

Wife has her own opinion on things...

I didn't have the feeling to change things on it because it was a "pro". Felt like it should be left as is, as that's what made it what it was.. I donno, I'm weird.

This gives me something I feel like I can tinker with and feel alright with doing that. I hope to keep this one until the model change and then assess where from there.
