Yes. Wanted less wheel; more tire. Guys at discount said 18's are the smallest the Pro can run, something about not clearing the break caliper.

Hang out on this site for truth about these trucks. Discount Tire is awesome I’m so many ways but this forum’s members know. Little more about what actually works, and how to make it work if any modifications are necessary. Sweet truck BTW!!

    17s do fit

Yeah, I believe it. Thing is, they wouldn't even sell em to me because the computer wouldn't allow it. And with the full lifetime warranty they have at discount, I couldn't bring myself to buy myself. I'm ok with the 18s.

Just out of curiosity what made you go with the NFabs? You mention the bumper needing high clearance and good approach angle but then kinda veered away from that adding steps that will get caught up

Good question. Bought and slapped on the NFABs pretty quick after the addition of the 295/70r18s, the Coachbuilder shims and shackles, and the 2" factory "lift" on the Pro, the wife wasn't thrilled about the large step up.

That said, this was all before the idea of making an overlanding get-out-there truck. So I see rock sliders in my future.

    None, yet....
The more I look at that bumper, the more I want it. Its just so damn expensive...

Secondly, did you trim your fenders with the pro comp flares? Pretty sure the install requires you to cut off a couple inches of sheetmetal right? You're a bold guy!!

    ARB On-board Air Compressor Install

Planning some wheelin tomorrow and likely some lazy river action so its finally time to get that air compressor installed to air up and down the tires as well as fill up the tubes.

Since this needed to happen quick (had ~3hrs this afternoon) and I haven't fabricated a mounting bracket yet, this is more of a temporary but still viable install. ARB suggests you mount this as near the battery as possible, so thats what I did. I chose to mount it directly to the fuse box lid.

I know it seems crazy and I would have loved to have a more permanent solution with a proper mounting bracket, but this turned out more stable than you might imagine, especially with the steel mounting bracket on the underside providing stability and strength.

    upload_2018-6-16_19-19-12.jpg

    upload_2018-6-16_19-19-38.jpg

Splicing into an "ignition on" source for the switch and light indicator.

    upload_2018-6-16_19-21-15.jpg

And here it is installed and working.

    upload_2018-6-16_19-22-43.jpg

So the compressor worked very well. I aired down to 15 psi and then aired back up to 40 psi in about 2 minutes.

The switch that ARB provided doesnt actually fit the Tundra, so I've ordered a switch and will get a pic of it soon, for now the switch is just taped in place.

    UPDATE POST:

Got a few things done to the truck in the interim:

    - Cobra 29LX CB Radio
    - ProCom 5.5' ft Quad Wrapped High Gain Antenna
    - Factor 55 Ultrahook
    - Factor 55 Hitchlink 2.5
    - Flip down license plate holder (Texas = Two Plate State)
    - Coming Soon: RCI Bedrack (ordered on discount, 4th of July special, 'Murica)

Finally got around to cutting off my original winch hook with the Sawzall. I added a proper hook, the Ultrahook from Factor 55. Closed system winching is where its at boys. (saftey first ;)). But you still get a hook if you need it. I also added Factor 55s Hitchlink 2.5 and locked it in place. Also finally relocated that license plate from the horrendous temporary location to a better spot. (if it ever gets in the way of the winch, its just two screws and its off.)

Here's where I installed my Cobra 29LX CB Radio

    upload_2018-7-11_20-32-13.jpg

I'm currently just loading up my recovery gear in the tool box, but coming soon I'll take delivery of the RCI Bed Rack and mount a full size spare on it as well as be able to relocate all the recovery gear as needed.

Miscellaneous gear...highlift, Friskars adjustable shovel, MaxTrax, a recovery bag with snatch straps, tree saver, extra D-rings, snatch block, 3 ton pro eagle jack buried under MaxTraxs, 3 ton jack stand.
    upload_2018-7-11_20-34-18.jpg

Coming soon, RCI bed rack. Initially it will have have my full size spare mounted up top. Eventually that will be replaced with a RTT and the spare will be relocated to a tailgate tire rack.

All that gear came in useful and got put to the test last weekend. Went wheelin' and lots of people were boggin' their rigs. Got to try an angled snatch block winch recovery. Did some snatch strap recoveries. I only got stuck once, and it was intentional so I could dig out with the shovel and throw the MaxTrax down and the Tundra just walked out.

    Update Post

So I did some things....also life happened, working 80+ hrs a week, I haven't been on the forum for a while. When Im not working, Ive tried to do things here and there to the truck. I really want it to be ready to hit up Tundras to Sedona (need to get some work covered, maybe Ill just quit my job?). So here goes, Im sure I'll forget something.

So I got the RCI bedrack installed. I added some rotopax as well. I went with an affordable roof top tent in the Smittybuilt Overlander Tent, does the deed for now. When I get an off-road trailer maybe Ill upgrade it.

    upload_2019-4-5_19-50-35.jpg

Dont ask what happened to the rear fender above, my wife doesnt want to talk about it, but shes still my DD (no she wasn't drunk, otherwise she wouldnt be a DD)

    upload_2019-4-5_19-51-44.jpg

Added some lighting as well. This is the KC HiLiTES 276 FLEX 30" LED Light Bar Combo. Whats neat about it is that the middle lights are spot, but the outer lights are flood lights (spread beam). Night pics with lights coming soon. In addition to the light bar, I added some A-Pillar KC HiLiTES 315 C-Series Amber 3" C3 LED. Went with amber on these, the amber light cuts through the dust where the white light doesn't.

    upload_2019-4-5_20-7-32.jpg

    Happy wife....

    upload_2019-4-5_20-13-38.jpg

Next up....so Entune sucks ass, as you know. So I ditched it. I went with the Halo 9" from Alpine Electronics (also known as the iLX-F309TND). Android Auto and so much more...

    upload_2019-4-5_20-18-3.jpg

When youre installing the new radio, they suggest you get a plastic dash tool. A butter knife works just as well.

    upload_2019-4-5_20-53-0.jpg

If youre not using google maps for Nav youre doing it wrong. Oh and did I mention you can preload trail maps that you download. Yes pls.

    upload_2019-4-5_20-19-20.jpg

Thats not all folks. What sold me on this set up you ask? Its what you can add to this unit. Ive got the External Accessory Control Module, which allows you to control 8 accessories via the touch screen interface. Also I added the Multi-View Front HDR Camera System along with the Multi Camera Selector Interface.

Here's the External Accessory Control Module in action. In the pic below you can see the buttons 1-8. 6-8 are just generic switch icons.

    1. Winch In
    2. Winch Out
    3. LED Light Bar
    4. Amber A-Pillar Cube LEDs
    5. ARB Air Locker
    6. ARB Air Compressor
    7. Will eventually be rear bumper floods
    8. currently not used

    upload_2019-4-5_20-33-58.jpg

Heres the Multi-View Front HDR Camera System in the TOYOTA part of the grill.

    upload_2019-4-5_20-41-6.jpg

This is great when wheel'n. The front facing camera has multiple views. Straight ahead, wide view (which is split), straight down view, and can seamlessly transition to the rear cam. Fucking awesome offroad. Heres the views...

    Straight ahead wide

    upload_2019-4-5_20-49-10.jpg

    Split side views...

    upload_2019-4-5_20-49-58.jpg

    Straight down view...

    upload_2019-4-5_20-50-26.jpg

    And finally rear view...

    upload_2019-4-5_20-51-6.jpg

I also need some extra room for storage. I plan to have a decked bed under the bedrack, but havent had a chance to build it yet. So I added the Universal Front Seat Cover with Multi-Compartments Holder Pockets Molle Pouches, very similar to the MOLLE system used by the military. This holds a ton of handy stuff. Head lamp, flashlight, EZ tire deflator, Air hose to air up tires after airing down, ratchet straps, jumper cables, fixed blade knife, hatchet, machete, fire starter, signal flare, compass, ARB tire repair kit, and of course the Factor 55 fast fid because I run a synthetic rope.

    upload_2019-4-5_20-57-33.jpg

    And last but not least

Glad I could help. I just took a look at your rig. Badass all around. My truck aspires to grow up like yours. Hope you dont mind I snagged a pic. Looks sweet. Some upcoming plans of mine include picking up some true rock sliders and dropping the nerf bars, a decked bed, and just get it over with and go full on long travel.

Check out this rear bumper. Expedition One's Dual Swing Out Rear Bumper.

    upload_2019-4-6_14-42-36.jpg

Here the website lists it as 2007+. Does anyone have experience with this bumper? From the website it seems like it would fit a 2015 Tundra TRD Pro. I would love to add this to my rig one day soon.

    :annoyed:

maybe you know this. maybe you don't. not trying to be condescending but...

next time you use the hi-lift on a slider, do a couple of things.

    1) open the door. can't tell you how many times i've seen the bottom slip and the whole jack goes right through the door.
    2) kick the bottom of the hi-lift more under the truck so the top points out and away. as you jack up, the hi-lift will become more vertical and not lean into the truck.

i have this bumper. fit and finish are great and the folks at expedition one are great to work with. just be prepared to wait a bit.

Thanks for the tip. I've learned a lot since that pic was taken. Some things, the hard way.

Good to know it will fit. Do you have any pics?

    UPDATE POST

Finally got DECKED! (@DECKEDUSA) Hilarious install video from Decked https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1yhJ_OFWm4 made this a breeze. Didn't even need to read the instructions #justmanstuff. "Do not drill through any body parts", "Don't use power tools, but we know you're going to anyway", "Lift with your back, not your legs".

Getting ready for a Big Bend Bender. Going to Big Bend National Park May 4th - May 9th, if you're interested CLICK HERE for the trip thread.

Mounted up the maxtrax and loaded up the full size spare.

The maxtrax took up too much room in the drawers, so I mounted them. Loaded up the passenger side drawer with recovery gear. Driver side drawer has the Smittybuilt tent anteroom and will have trip specific gear with food etc.
