I know everyone will have their own opinions, most likely most of you would say 3rd Gen since it's the newest but here is my take.

I had a 2nd Gen bought new in 2008 DC 5.7 standard bed and did like it. I SOLD it and did the jeep rubicon thing for awile, then sold that for a 2013 Tacoma DC had the for 2 years,.traded that in for a new 2015 4 runner for the wife. The Tacoma was small but I did like it too. I knew I wanted a tundra but the 3rd Gen IMO just reminds me of a F-150 boxy style. So I started looking at the 2nd gen, but what I didn't like about it was it was just huge, I've always liked the first gen since it seems like the perfect size between the Tacoma and the 2nd and 3rd Gen tundra's and you still get a V8.

So ill say untill the 4th Gen comes out I choose the 1st Gen, mines a 2006 Sr5 DC and I love it!

When I was looking I wanted used and under a certain price. So I was mostly 1 gens. I also looked at an 08 and that thing was massive. I decided on an 06 SR5 and love it. like you said the perfect match of size and power.

I prefer the 2nd gen body style, but I'd very much like to have the 3rd gen interior--especially the instrument cluster.

I have a 2nd but will get a 3rd as soon as possible. They are the best looking vehicles in the road.

You should've made this into a poll.

I have a 2nd gen. I think the interior of the 3rd gen is prettier, but that's more of a cosmetic matter. My second gen has dual climate control (available only in certain 3rd gen trims), sliding/ reclining rear seat, Sliding center console, power on outlet, and courtesy lights on the door. So esthetically, I like 3rd gen, but functionally I prefer 2nd gen. (I am still disappointed with what they did to the rear seat in CM.)

Exterior styling is just about wash for me, even though I was tempted to trade in for a Pro.

Overall, I do prefer the 2nd gen. That's the reason why I did not trade mine in for a new one.

I was a lifetime GM guy. Sorry but I was not a fan of the tundra until the 3rd Gen came out. I absolutely love it so I bought it :)

I am partial to the 2nd Gen body style, I think the trucks looks muscular, beefy. Especially with the power bulge hoods! I love lookin out over that hood when Im driving!

yep bank account is running low from it..
Problem is here most people here are 2nd and 3rd gen drivers let the battle between them go at it. There is only a hand full of 1st gens up here maybe 20 of us if that.

Imo. i still like the 1st gen the best in both my 95.5 tacoma and tundra. First gens are ALWAYS the building blocks ( no matter who makes it) and it supports the next gens and next gens. Without 1st gen tundra toyota would still have the t100 and this board would not exist and @Bob would rename it T100s i guess.

My 1st gen has served me very faithfully for the last ten years, it was the perfect size and style for me. But now I'm looking on to get a 3rd gen soon.

I like them all.... Only thing I like better on the 3rd gen over my 2nd gen is the pro grill.. Don't like any of the aftermarket grills for the 2nd gens. I don't need any of the flashy shit of the interior of the 3rds I like my truck to be a truck. Love mine. But I do REALLY like @LOTSOFTOYS first gen!!! So I guess 1st and 2nd get my vote!

Machanically speaking, first gen takes the cake completely. You have to try to hurt the 4.7.... good power for the size of the truck. And still is small enough to go places in the woods. Reminds me of Toyotas roots

The second and third gens make alot more power. Obviously that's important in a truck! But they aren't anywhere near as bullet proof as a first gen. Size wise, I'm not a huge fan on how big they are....

That being said, 3rd Gen looks estetically better Imo.

    So ya;) first and third

I had a 06 DC for a couple years and it was really great.Sold it when I "went off the deep end" (normal) when gas hit $4.00. Bought a 08 4Runner but as nice as it was,I needed more room. My 2010 DT

Love the beefiness of the 2nd gens, but when I get this one paid off I'll probably buy a 3rd gen CM. The only thing I don't like about the 2nd gen CM's is that they don't seem to look "right" without a lift and tires. Not gonna lie though, if I could've found a four door first gen I probably would've bought it.

Ya, the 3rd Gen looks does look goofy without a lift. I wish toyota would give us a better fuel efficient 5.7, the only thing holding me back on buying one is the crap mileage, the powertrain is still 2007.

A lift and bigger wheels/tires looks great, but utility suffers a bit with a higher bed, unless of course you are 6'++. My 08 DC has a 3/1 lift and I wish it were lower, a 1-2" front leveling lift would be perfect for me personally, and I am 5'9". 3rd Gen really looks the best. As far as gas mileage I am trying to get 15mpg in mixed driving and it is not easy. I am hoping once I move from CO back to sea level and warmer weather it will improve a little. If I were a commuter, or if this were my only car (my wife has a Honda Civic), the poor gas mileage would be more of an issue for sure, but as a second vehicle and a company work truck this thing is absolutely awesome. I don't know what comparable gas-engine Ford/Dodge/GM gets in terms of MPG, but I doubt it is any better.

I have grown to like the 3rd Gens alot. Interior and exterior. I do love my 2nd Gen though and plan to keep it around for a while.

All gen's are great. Myself, I prefer my 3rd gen, but I do like some of the features and style of the 2nd gen as well. I guess Ideally i'd have a mix of the 2nd and 3rd.
The 1st gen is great if you dont need to haul a lot, more like a slightly larger tacoma with a v8. For me the 5.7 was mandatory for towing and hauling duties so a 1st gen was out.

I went from 2015 tacoma to 2003 tundra and ended up with 2016 DC TRD and enjoying it very much.

I think the 3rd Gen is the sexiest truck on the road.
