Yeah I have my frame boxed up to the reinforced center section and I have 4 pads on each corner of the bed floor to support the bed cage. Those pads are tubed and gusseted to the frame.

@Spolar just get your frame boxed and add a pad to each corner of your bed exactly like mine. The pads should be pretty cheap and if you ever decide to add a bad cage you can attach to them.

If you don't want to do all that work, you don't have to. Just dial it down...:D

Just read through your build thread.. do you have any pics or more info on this “custom welded on rear bumper”? My guess would that that combined with the bed stiffners caused the rear or the bed and frame to act as a solid unit and pull the front apart... and I doubt Toyota will do anything for you with as much farm modification as you’ve got with the bumper and sliders... hopefully they don’t notice the added stiffners but I’m sure that would delete any warranty as well

It totally depends on the dealer. I had my rear diff replaced and my axle is fully modified for a spring under axle conversion. If the dealer wants the work, they will present it to toyota in such a way as to get them to cover. If they dont want the work because it doesn't pay what they want, then they'll present it in a much different way

Good guess... but my bumper is like 2 or 3 weeks old and never seen dirt

Also how exactly would a different rear bumper behave any differently than the factory bumper and tow hitch??? My bumper is simply welded to the frame vs bolted on with the hitch relocated higher to a crossmember welded in place to act like the factory hitch.

The bed stiffeners are solely there to stop the bed from falling apart from all the flex of the tundra frame. Don’t see how that contributes at all.

Sliders? Suspension? Bumper etc etc? Zero has anything to do with the bed of the truck. None of it should be a reason to deny the claim. I don’t doubt Toyota will try and deny it because my truck is far from stock, but nothing I’ve put on the truck would co tribute to bed separating like that.

Alex is completely correct when it comes to the dealer covering the bed. Not sure about Toyota, but for the manufacturer that I work for, if I find an item that should not be covered under warranty for whatever reason I could submit for goodwill assistance. This all depends if the client is a good customer or not, and his or her attitude. More times than not we can get something covered. Partial or full depends on the case.
Hopefully they help you out. Pm me and let me know how it goes, my old service manager is now a service manager for a Toyota dealership. I can reach out to him for his opinion if you would like.

It's just a bed. Easily replaced and sure easy to find in a junk yard as many front end collisions that happen and beds are not touched. I am thinking I may just do a flatbed with tube and fiberglass so I can customize it. But will box and stiffen the frame and run it till it falls apart, then decide at that point what to do.

What is there to argue? If the dealer covers it great if not then you have a to deal with it. A replacement bed is easy custom bed will cost more.

Yeah it is that's why I am not there. Haha. Better trade the truck in because it's falling apart and going to explode on the trail in the middle of nowhere. Lol

All of that will absolutely affect how your vehicle wears and especially a rear bumper that is welded in. Sliders and bumpers all make vehicles more rigid (altering the factory designed flex) which could lead to potential increased wear on parts that are designed to move with the flex of the truck.

In your case, you took a vehicle that’s intended to have the rear end twist with the rear of the fram and instead completely stiffened that section. Now your truck wiggles in the middle but doesn’t transfer that motion out the end and is forced to use the bed mounts to stop it... AND you jump it regularly it looks like which is extra hard on that particular section of frame

Once again, rear bumper is only like 2 weeks old, haven’t hit the dirt with it. And if you know your stuff you’d know what would happen to the bed if I didn’t tie the frame together with a high clearance bumper. But again, bed was already like that before the bumper so... check that theory off the list. Also rear of the bed is fine, it’s the one front corner

Do you think I don’t understand getting a 7000+ truck airborn isn’t going to cause some stress? Of course I do. But where the bed issue is it’s unusual and there’s a lot of guys who offroad their trucks and I’ve yet to see that particular issue

The dealer by my house didn’t even look at it. Left it there for a few days and the service manager just had his “master” tech check it out. Basically told me I would need to revert back to stock if I wanted to have them evaluate the issue further lol. They didn’t even go to Toyota with it. So I might try one more dealer, but I’m going to the fab shop at the end of the month and having the frame boxed and everything beefed up so I’m not worried about it.

Master tech noted my aftermarket exhaust and skid plates along with bumpers and suspension as issues that would need be resolved before being able to continue with diagnostics on the bed. Basically didn’t even bother
