I have a Hypertech Speedo Calibrator coming.
Skid Plates are in my garage.
    Suspension will be here Friday.
35s are on the truck already.
ECGS is my next call. I'm hoping on the Tundra they'll do the exchanges same as they do on the Taco. I'm seriously considering buying ARB lockers front and rear with the 4.88 gears.

I'm running 4.88's on my 2003. I have 315 70 r17. I feel like it drives pretty close to the way it did before the big tires. Regearing is also a grate excuse to put in a locker too.

I installed the hyperteck shortly after installing the 35s , it has corrected my Speedo, one thing i had to deal with was because of the larger tires was if it down shifted for the slightest grade (@70 to 75) and it would not go back into full torque converter lock (highest gear) while using the cruise control. What i did find out that cured that was if moved the shifter over to manual shift and put into 6th then set the cruise , then it would go into full lock after a grade. As for going to 4.88s thats next on my list (have to wait for the wifes eyebrows to go back down after SC) and would be nice for MPGs now that i have to run premium. Keith @dirtydeeds wanted to know about running the hypertec and bully dog together? Speedo seems to be still correct but i believe the BD is off.

1rst or 2nd gen? I plan on going from 275/65/18 to 275/70s 32”-33” am I going to see that much of a drop in mpg in my 3rd GEN?

considering the price of gearing is $1100 would it make more sense to get a tune(DAP) for $600 instead? I ask because it seems many advise against 4.88 for 34" tires.

I've done both with 295/70/18 STT Pro's. I did the tune first, and I still felt sluggish off the line. The gears help more in that area.

Can you tell me how the tune changed the shift times? I find the shifting to be super slow.

I can't give any hard numbers, but it just holds gears a little longer than the stock tune. You can tell the difference with just normal driving and when you stomp on it. The shifts seem to be "firmer" too. I switched back to the stock tune for a couple days and the shifts seemed noticeably slower/softer. Makes the truck more fun to drive all around.

Running 285/70/18 are you on stock suspension and stock wheels? If so did you have any rubbing with that size?

Hands down the gearing is the best bang for the buck. And makes the most difference.

I got the calibrator aswell. But what about tuning for gear ratio? can we do that with the recal too?

He’s you can. You have to either change settings trial and error, or try to do the calculations in the instructions. Or a little of both.

The version of the Hypertech software I have asks what the stock gear ratio was, and what the new ratio is. Same with Tire Size corrections. You need to do both at the same time when you flash the calibrator.
