Can someone snap a quick picture for me? I need to see the upper mounts for a head light on a 2nd gen tundra with stock fenders.

I need a screw and plastic hole mount, but the dealer is telling me that both upper mount plastic tabs and screws are the same size. I have fiberglass fenders and the hole on the outer mount is twice the size as the inner mount.

But now I am starting to suspect that the fenders cover that hole and have a smaller hole for the headlight mount.

Hope this helps. I pulled both the inner and outer screws and they and the plastic plug are the same.20180607_125425.jpg 20180607_125516.jpg 20180607_125727.jpg

    Thanks dude! That totally helps!

The stock fender has the correct size hole and mine are gone lol The hole in the cross member underneath is twice as big. I guess I'll have to figure something else out.

Any time bro . I don't know how readily available they are, but a rivnut might work. A 1/4" rivnut should expand to about an inch.

The 1/4" ones I have in my astro kit barely expand bigger than the hole

Are there different style rivnuts out there?

I just expanded this one for a 1/4" bolt, the petals measure at 3/4". Depending on how big the hole in your crossmember is a 5/16" might be better.20180607_133036.jpg

dude! Those petal ones are perfect! Where do I find those??

haha! All the mounts on both my headlights are broken and they've been held on with tie wraps for several year now. But the drivers finally gave up the ghost and started filling with dust so I had to get a new one. I want to make sure its properly mounted this time so I don't waste $250 LOL

@duece292 all the ones on Amazon are the round kind that don't expand much.

Also, you think my rivnut gun will work on those petal ones? Or do I need a different tool. It seems like maybe the screw part of the gun wont be long enough but I'm not sure

The ones I use come with a tool to mushroom them. I have a ton of 1/4" and a handful of 5/16" and can send them to you if you want, just let me know how many you need.20180607_151619.jpg the rivnut goes in the hole, the grooves in the nut took hold the rivnut stationary. You hold the nut tool with a 3/4" wrench and tighten the bolt and that mushrooms the rivnut. Easy peazy.

haha! Damn dude I just went down the rabbit hole for over an hour trying to find those things. I found some longer ones like versa nut, but you need a special tool. I can't seem to find the ones you have with a nut for inserting.

thanks for offering to send me some, but I can just buy some for my kit, I'm sure I'll be using them in the future. Where did you get them from???

I've gotten the from Fastenal in the past but my local one never seems to have them anymore. I do a lot of contractor van shelving packages at work and they come with the hardware kits and FabFours uses the bigger ones for a lot of their Jeep stuff. Plusnut is the brand I use. If you do a Google search for Plusnut it'll be one of the first ones to come up. They list all of the sizes, head diameter, length, shank diameter, expanded size, etc. and I think you can buy right from the website.
