Used to love camping but grew out of it. I have a small cabin in the bush that I go to every weekend though.

We camped like this for a looong time. Two tents, one for me and the wife one for the kids. Four cots and sleeping bags. First Up Gazebo for the kitchen/dining area. A chuck box contained all of our kitchen cookware and dishes. I kept a 21 gallon water tank in the bed of the truck with an RV pump for water.

Packed up for a week on the beach or the mountains the truck looked like this:
all those boxes contain everything food, fishing gear, hiking gear, and supplies for the truck. We packed a lot because we did a lot on our trips, it was never just wheeling or camping.

Since the kids are nearly grown now and don't accompany us as much anymore, the wife and I built our teardrop to keep us from roughing it like we used to.

Full kitchen with fridge, stove, oven and wine cabinet
    [IMG]

It's designed to go almost anywhere the truck can go and keep us very comfortable for our vacations

Southwest Colorado has some of the finest camping/wheeling spots anywhere. Silverton, Ouray and Telluride have some awesome trails and camping spots. Taylor reservoir has great camping/fishing and pretty great trails too. Poke around here a bit and you'll find plenty of areas to explore. http://www.traildamage.com

That thing is sweet Jim! If you don't mind me asking..... what was the total cost after all was said and done on that trailer? I know they have several production ones that are in the 10K range I was looking at awhile back.

I guess it depends on your definition of 'camping', but here's what we love to do...

8 trips and 23 nights so far this year. Camper is a 2015 Rockwood MiniLite 2306. Light weight (3850 lbs), and perfect for me, the wife, and our 10 year old daughter.

I absolutely love camping and have spent a total of 34 nights (5 trips) out this year. I used to have an Autohome RTT which was awesome, but I'm too damn old anymore to be crawling up and down a ladder in the middle of the night to take a piss so I sold it a couple years ago. Picked up a small popup trailer to see if I'd like that and it was okay, but earlier this year decided it was time to move on to something more solid. This is what camp looks like nowadays-

    GB4 Camp.jpg

Then again, this was from the last trip a few weeks ago. Had to drive into the mountains to take care of some business, but didn't want to have to drive home the same day. Hassle finding a hotel room that'll take the pup, so decided to camp instead. Popped the soft top on, grabbed some beer, snacks, satellite radio and the propane fire pit and was good to go!

Nice.... Is that soft top watertight? I have thought about doing this a few times but figured it would completely suck if it rained and had any kind of leak at all.

It's watertight to a point. When parked with it all zipped shut, it's good to go. I think you might get a little water in if you were driving in the rain with it. This is only the second time I've had it on the truck and no rain so far, so I can't say for sure. I put their velcro strips on the front bedrail to seal that end, but not on the tailgate, so it's just resting against it with no seal. I'm sure I'd get some water blowing up under the back flap if it was windy enough.

What is the brand name? Was it built specifically for the Tundra? Better more expensive choices? I amy look more into this.

It's a Softopper and yes, it was made for the Tundra. I had them replace the stock rear window with a darker plastic so mine was right about $700, but normally they're a bit less than that.

Edit: To add to what I said earlier about watertightness, although I haven't had the topper on in the rain yet, I have taken it to the car wash and hit it with the pressure hose. No water intrusion at all from that so long as I stayed away from spraying it up from underneath the flaps.

I used to love camping. Nowadays the campgrounds are so crowded I have to go home to "get away from it all".
