Tons of scatter. I do not recommend.

Not a great idea. Do it right and get projectors or 2018 LEDs. Halogen housings are meant for halogen bulbs, adding hid or led will produce tons of glare and scatter to oncoming traffic...and won't give you more usable light

You have the headlight housing, right? Inside you typically have a bulb and then a reflector dish (like you have). The light from the halogen bulb 'reflects' back out into the front of the truck. It's an older technology.

Projectors have a bulb or LED diode with a curved lens in from of them (sorta like projectors that you see in school or meetings that display images on the wall) that focuses the light outwards. It doesn't reflect the light. It projectors light outwards. Instead, you stick a 'projector' unit inside of your headlight housing. Projectors typically have HID bulbs or LED units inside of them.

    A unit like below:

You can see how the light output is different on a reflector vs projector:

if you get the right hid LED's with shields on the LED's the scatter is not bad at all. I have been running these and never get flashed ever. The output is great.

I disagree I have the Philips LED ultinon in my 18 and they are decent but the scatter is obvious so I just bought projectors for mine

I don't get flashed either but doesn't mean the lights aren't scattering light I could have honestly kept my Philips lights but I chose to go retrofit

I will eventually get the 2018 OEM LED's. Of course there is scatter but it minimum compared to other brands.

I bought them so long ago the Ebay link is no longer there. But if you search the description on the box you should be able to find them for under 100$. I have had them for 2 years.

I found a link to a Non name brand set that looks 100% identical to the set I run. They all come from china as far as I can tell anyways. I went threw 3 sets before I found a set with an acceptable beam pattern that does not have that horrible scatter. No these are not OEM LED's or aftermarket projectors. But like I said I never see into oncoming cars or blind oncoming drivers.

    here is the link

I had the OPT7 LED's like in this guys video and the scatter was horrible. I removed them the next day.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixYDE9vg1jQ

the guy in the video never shows the beam pattern though. Im not sure what he's using at night in the video.
