Hey all - Apparently, the BAKBox 2 Utility Storage Box isn't available for 2017 or 2018 Tundras. A shop I found on my island had to cancel my order for the toolbox because they didn't want to have a 2016 version shipped out here and have it not fit the bed somehow.

    • Anyone know if these will be back?
    • Or, are there other alternatives that are similar?
What caught my attention to these was that it folds away so it gives you most of the bed space back if you need it, without having to unmount the whole thing.

I don't use my truck for anything that requires a conventional toolbox that's somewhat permanent. I was more thinking of putting beach stuff, like towels and the likes, in there so I always have them handy (since we're short on storage on our giant ass trucks, which I love).

    Thanks gals and guys.

That shouldn’t be an issue, the size of the bed hasn’t changed between the model years? Have you tried Autoanything.com? I just priced out a BAKBox 2 for my 2017 on their site and it allows me to put it in my cart.

    Hope this helps.

I just installed a BAKbox 2 in my 2018 Tundra this AM. IMO, it's not worth the money. The BAKflip MX4 is great...high quality and worth the money. The BAKbox 2 is cheap..,doesn't seem like it's from the same company. At half the price, I still wouldn't purchase it again. BTW - it's a good idea and the fold-a-way when not in use sounds much better than in practice.

Thanks. It does help to know that it can at least be installed.

And thank you, as well. With shipping costs out here and not having the time or patience to install a lot of these things, if it's not up to par with the MX4, then I'll look at other things, like that swinging box I saw elsewhere.

I'm getting the MX4 installed today, so at least I'll be able to put stuff somewhere when the kids are in the back. Where I live, driving anywhere for food shopping requires driving through a small mountain range thing that has rain coming down 97% of the time*.

    * Not that I'm complaining when this is the view.

    I appreciate the input.

    Beautiful there!
Wish that I had found more honest reviews of the BAKbox 2 before ordering it. Best of luck in finding a quality solution.
