9C99AE1D-BE67-4D19-B8C5-D814517DECE5.jpg Cleaned my truck today and found I have a fair amount of tar from road construction in my area. It was real bad on passenger side. I did my best and cleaned it, but still many specs remain. I was looking at Chemical Brothers clay bars was thinking Black heavy clay bar? But not sure if that is to heavy and should go next step down. I also have some pesky tree shit, that dried on too.
Once you clay bar the area do you need to go back and re wax that area?

I would. Use some quick detail spray to act as a lubricant after washing it. Once clay bar is applied, wash, wax.

I’d start with the lighter clay bars first.

I bought a light clay bar. Lower half of the door is speckled with tar. Bought chemical brothers light clay bar. Hopefully it was the right choice.

If the tar is thick like badge residue I wouldn’t clay it, might rub across and marr the clearcoat. Spray this on, let it sit for a minute and rub it off with a MF cloth. Rinse all the GG off.

Do clay afterward, it makes a huge difference for a smooth surface followed by polish and wax for a mirror finish.

" Automotive Clay Bar is an engineered resin mixture that auto detailers use to remove contaminants and pollutants from the surface of your car’s paint, glass, fiberglass, and metal."

I personally wouldnt use it to remove the tar from the surface as then that clay bar is going to have that mixed in the clay bar, making it pretty much worthless. I would try the wd-40 or dip a rag into some gas and rub the surface......after you clean the tar off, then you can clay bar it and use whatever polish you normally use.

I bought some WD-40, do I spray on a MF or directly on the surface? I will use the clay bar next for contaminants then.

If all else fails use this, you can pick it up at any auto body supply store. Will not harm your paint when used in proportion (dont leve a soaked rag of it overnight on the paint) and will take off pine sap, road tar, stickers and boogers.
