I have an 07. I received the recall letter to get the spray/undercoat. My frame is looking very good, but I do live in N.J. home of the salt covered winter roads. Should I have them do it? I did get an estimate for Ziebart to do it for $1,500. Seems a bit high but they said because a ton of labor in the prep work.

Does the recall not make the spray free? Why do you have pricing for it?

I bought the truck a few months ago, I assumed I didn't qualify for the recall. After reading about rust issues with Tundra frames I went to Ziebart for an estimate. For $1,500 they say they prep every square inch and prime it then put an oil spray over that. Then once a year they will do any necessary touch ups. I just wonder how good the recall spray is versus the Ziebart treatment. I love the truck it only has 50k miles on it, in amazing condition

I received the recall letter a week ago. And yes it's free if I go that route. Just want to know has anybody had the dealer spray, and are they satisfied with the results

I would have the dealer do it. It’s free and if it becomes a problem again it will be free again. Win win at the right price.

I think you guys are right. Although, I did read mixed reviews about the dealer spray. I just want to know if anybody from this forum has had it done and was happy or not with the outcome.

Not sure what kind of coating they are going to put on at the dealer. But I would hate to cover up existing light rust with a rubberized undercoating. It will be fine until it’s out of warranty again and then rust will show up in bubble up underneath the new coating.
