I'm not usually saddened when "celebrities" I don't know pass away but for some reason I always took a great liking to Bourdain. The raw, sometimes raunchy, yet poetic nature to how he explained different foods and cultures always made me smile. My wife and I have watched his travels for many years. This guy I will miss.......

    well, that sucks.

my sentiments too. he was a guy that a would have loved to sit down and have a drink with.

the way he blended food, culture and politics so seamlessly was brilliant. he took some significant chances on many of the shows. he was one of the best journalists working today and i'm sure he would hate being called that. i took a lot of inspiration from his shows. his production crew, zero point zero, was doing stuff throughout his career that no one else was doing or was willing to do and i loved the fact that no matter what network he was on, there were always there with him.

I am truly saddened by this. Suicide is not a victimless crime. Thoughts going out for the loved ones left behind . . .

Suicide is not a victimless crime, there are always loved ones left behind to pick up the pieces and deal with extreme grief. I used to work with youth and have seen the toll from the survivors point of view, it is a really difficult process to work through.

that's unfair. yes, it sucks that she lost a father but, if you've watched him closely for the past few years, he had gotten darker. sometimes, when someone reaches the end of the road, all that's left is desperation and darkness. there isn't always a way back from that. you cannot judge him on his final act.

this issue hits home very very hard with me.

I seen both side to that final act, meaning I have seen people get to the end and call it quits and get to the end then find a path home with help. Hope can be found again. It is important to find loved ones and competent professional to help.

Sorry @smslavin if I am coming down hard, this just hits really close to home for me as well.

I liked how he would go to the sketchiest places. He showed that food can provide a safe place and common bond where people come together in relative peace. Fuck guys like Gordon ramsack or Bobby flake, they were nothing compared to Anthony.

no worries. trust me, i am in no way justifying the act of suicide. i've known many who have made that choice.

Since I don’t watch mainstream TV, never heard of him.

From most of the comments on this thread, sounds like his show was entertaining.

I hope he found what he was needing.

    RIP.

Where's the link to support the statement? That's a big claim to make without something to back it up.

RIP. Liked his show and dry sense of humor/wit. Didn’t like his politics. Didn’t know he left behind a little girl. Bummer all the way around man.

No conspiracy. Just a troubled mind. He clearly wasn't the same. Something was going on. Sadly we will never know for sure.
