We got a sweet looking inferno Taco in at the dealership today. Lifted, method rims, Fox coilovers up front, Fox shocks in the rear. Done right, rides really well. CAN'T GET OUT OF IT'S OWN WAY. I'm NOT impressed with these new engines. They're great for fuel economy, but have 0 balls. Truck looks killer though!!!! I just wished they'd have stuck with the 4.0ltr. It wasn't a big powerhouse, but could be tuned, and messed with.

I went from a '10 TRD Sport Tacoma to this 5.7 Tundra. The Tundra is quieter inside, rides better, and has the room of a limo. I did love my Tacoma and would still be driving it today if a kid on his phone hadn't totaled it for me. The size of the Tacoma made it easier to park, easier to get around in parking garages and it got 18.5 MPG no matter how I drove it. I did drive a new Tacoma before buying this Tundra and found the new engine felt about the same as my previous generation. It's just that the Tundra offered so much more for just $2500 more than the Tacoma I was looking at.

I don't like the exhaust manifold setup on the new engines. They took from Honda for that one. Whole collector type box manifold instead of "header" type tubes. Looks SO restricted.

Due to a life event, I purchased a 2016 Tacoma. The change from the 4.0 L engine (which I had in my 2011 Tacoma) to the 3.5 L Tacoma in 2016, in my opinion , was a huge mistake for Toyota. The 3.5 L paired with their transmission software (even after the update) was horrible. That paired with other factors and falling in love with my current Tundra, made my decision to upgrade very simple.

2016 Tacoma TRD OR, no power, not quite, no room and uncomfortable ride!

    Traded in for the,

2017 Tundra 4X4 5.7 CM, power, excellent handling, ride, roomy and very comfortable! I started with my 2010 Tundra 5.7 DC and wanted to try a Tacoma!

Back home with the Tundra and never looked back when I traded the 16 Tacoma!

I actually like my 2018 3.5l Tacoma more than my 5.7l tundra as far as driving experience. (I drive alllll day long doing service work city/neighborhood stops). I can also tell that I will enjoy it immensely off-road.

Don’t get me wrong, the tundra is a beast. But taco just so much more fun to drive (maybe because it’s my first midsize). I drive it in ECT PWR all the time and its scoots along fine. I am interested in getting it tuned but not wanting to have to run higher octane so idk...

I am surprised how much hate the 3rd gen taco gets. If I wasn’t planning on keeping it until it becomes one with the earth again(just like my tundra) I would be worried about the resale value with all the negativity.

I bet it would do much better with a re-gear.
