Any advice on installing the Toytec Boss lift and leather Katzkins? I have both mods sitting in the garage that are waiting to be installed once I find the time. Thanks in advance!

I just installed the Boss kit on my truck. It went ok but looking back I should have got the Toytec guys to do the install. Wrench turning was no issue, it's the knowledge of how each piece should fit or not fit that is priceless.

But as long as you have a hammer, pry bar, and spray paint you'll be fine.

I did the Katzkins on my Tacoma. My advice is to make sure you have the tools needed, hog rings, hog ring pliers, tie wraps (just in case), and a portable steamer is nice in case you need to steam out the foam compressions. You'll need an area to work on the seats because obviously you have to remove them. The headrests are a PIA to do, but they are doable, you just need to really compress the foam so the new leather fits over them - it will seem like they wont fit, but they will. It took me about 7-8 hours to do a doublecab Tacoma. That was removing the seats, removing the cloth and recovering the seats in leather and adding heat to the front seats. There are some good videos out there and there is some good info on Tacomaworld. All seats are pretty much the same when it comes to installing leather, the Tundra shouldn't be any different. I'm pretty confident after doing my Taco to where I could do it in the half the time if ever needed. But the Taco is gone and the Tundra has leather, so.... there's that..

As far as suspension, don’t hesitate to loosen cam bolts if needed to get the coil overs out. Just mark em and loosen em a bit, you’re gonna need an alignment anyway.

Re: Boss kit. I installed it myself at it went pretty smooth. Assuming you don't have a vehicle lift, you'll need multiple floor jacks and two sets of jackstands, a 50-250 lb ft torque wrench, tie rod puller, etc. If you're not doing UCA's it will be very easy. The UCA's were the most difficult part and even they weren't bad. The whole thing took me 6 hours. The main thing is BUY THE RIGHT TOOLS if you don't have them. It's cheaper than paying someone to install and better than getting stuck half way through with your vehicle up in the air.

Tie rod puller: Big inexpensive torque wrench: https://www.amazon.com/TEKTON-24340...=1528385113&sr=8-6&keywords=250+torque+wrench

Thread HERE. Not an instructional thread by any means.

Neither of the projects are too technical. The advise above is good stuff. A good ball joint separator is key. Start exercising your hands now to prepare for the leather install....LOL I couldn't believe what a work out my hands got pulling and stretching the leather.

For suspension tools, no need to buy tools just rent them. That is what I (AutoZone) did doing my brother truck and will be doing here soon again to change my front 3" lift spacers.

All the advice shown here is good advice. IF you plan on tackling the task of installing our suspension yourself; here are a set of instructions to look over before tackling the task. We always recommend having a shop do it just for a peace of mind of it being done right, and for a "CYA" just in-case something happens during install.

I use these opportunities as a damn good reason to buy tools. Over the years I've collected quite a collection.

Put the seat covers out in the sun for a while and heat them up so they stretch and are more pliable. I've done a ton of seat covers on older muscle cars and it always did the trick. Obviously you don't want them so hot they are tough to handle lol especially if you are working with black.

I am considering a Katzkin install myself. If you happen to be snapping pics of your project and post them up with pointers, you’d be a hero!

Sorry, I can't remember, it was my '07 and I did it in 2010, too long for ago for my memory. I think maybe it didn't come apart and the edges were stuffed under?
