The sturdiest steps are Body Armor IMHO. I agree most slider mfrs offer a step plate option.

I bought/installed the Westin Platinum wheel to wheel bars.
    3 brackets on each side.
Very easy 1 hr install with just a few hits from a small sledge to get the pre-drilled holes to line up.

This attachment point is one of the best features and I believe it is exclusive to their design.
It’s the most likely location to take a major impact climbing over boulders. I have not heard of any damage occurring to the mount. Take a look under your truck at the mount and see how heavily gussetted they are. I think you might bend the frame before the mount would crush.

Here are our Toyota Tundra Rock Sliders:

Sliders are constructed of ¼” plate steel mounts and gussets, 2” x .188” wall steel square tube and 2” x .156” wall DOM Round tubing. Sliders use factory frame holes on the frame side and require drilling 6 holes in the bottom of frame per side. There is not another slider on the market for any vehicle as robust as these, these are the ultimate protection for your Tundra.

We offer these with or without the top plates.

P&P Sliders require no drilling. Completely bolt on.

You could get the RCI Heavy Duty Side Steps, they're a hybrid between sliders and steps and bolt to the frame with out drilling.
