Haha. No habla here either. There are some good opportunities up this way for those that speak Spanish though.

A few things people do not do without for long:

    Electricity/NG/Water
    Fuel
    Alcohol
The comfort of the opposite sex

I think the first two could offer what you need/want. Ever look into a Utility Company?

I tell people all the time, look into the trades, power generation, NG companies.

How about HSS armed guard supervisor ? Hospital security outfit providing security at major hospitals all over the US. My son recently started armed guard security officer position at the Childrens Hospital and Aurora Medical Center. Great bennies. All the hours you want or don't want. My son's super is a former Army S Forces and retired LEO. Probably makes a decent salary.

If you have any colleges/universities close by they're usually a good place to look. They're pretty much small cities and have every type of job typically, but with your background a safety officer would be a pretty safe bet and most usually have part time positions available.

I really do hope you find your dream career. Your understandable limits on relocating will likely impede your available opportunities. Anything having to do with Police/security work naturally is a 24 hr op. Beginning most if not all new career opportunities does require sacrifice...or moves. Everyone wants weekends and holidays off and great hours usually for all the right reasons, and shift work is a totally a burn out.

I still suggest as I did last year a career search and floating a resume on usajobs.gov could be a wise option. Maybe limit your area of consideration to Tx. Also consider making your active duty time work for you, I did. I purchased my AD Air Force service time which then bridged seamlessly when I retired from Federal Law Enforcement. This allowed my AD time to be factored into my high (3) giving me almost 36 yrs of retirement benefits and as importantly income. Many federal agencies higher Vets directly under the Veterans Readjustment Act. The FEDs are very selective on who they screen and hire and virgously weed applicants out with polygraphs, background investigations, financial disclousure issues, criminal history, illegal drug use... forget it. Ommision of any documented information during the hiring process is a no go. Make your USAF career work for you!

    FWIW...
