When gas tank is within 2-3 gallons of being full, the gas pump shuts off. I then take 5 more minutes topping off the additional 2-3 gallons by constantly clicking the handle on the gas pump. Anyone else have this issue. The extra fuel makes a difference when towing our RV. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what's up but I hear it's not recommended to be topping these trucks off. I don't even give it a squeeze after it clicks.

Something about fuel getting into the charcoal canister and access vapor pressure I think

And I think newer gas pumps have a pressure sensor and vapor recovery system that actually forces excess pumped gas back into the pump, leaving a full hose for the next guy, so it's wasting money. Ever go to fuel up and when you remove the handle from its holder it's spills gas everywhere? I think thats from topping off?

Topping off your gas tank can cause pressure to build in the tank and flood the carbon filter vapor collection system, only meant for vapor. Subsequently, this overflow can affect its performance and could possibly damage the engine.

I believe AAA did an article on constantly “squeezing juice” ...and whatever extra is pumped just goes back.
