Is there an alternative to cleaning the maf sensor and throttle body without buying a specific spray?

I bought those CRC sprays from Autozone one for MAF and one for Throttle body, just did two weeks ago no issues or lights

Not that I know of and I wouldn't risk using anything but the correct spray

A little of this and a little of that.

This may be a stupid question but “do they make spray specifically for a MAF?”

WHat’s it called? MAF sensor cleaner? Can you get at any auto parts store? Sorry but I’ve never cleaned mine. I guess I should look at the manual to see how often I need to do this.

Be sure to disconnect the Neg batt cable, disconnect electrical connection to MAF then two phillips head screws, pull MAF out and follow can directions

For Throttle body, I left on didn't take off, spray on heavy duty paper towel and clean inside and butterfly both sides

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
    THIS ^^^

    I'll add:
I clean the air filter and MAF with every oil change.
I have the S&B intake, which requires a little disassemble before cleaning. While at it, I take the extra 5 mins and take the intake tube apart.

Personally, I just leave the MAF in the intake. I just unplug it after disconnecting the neg. term, as described above.

FYI, when spraying the MAF cleaner, spray in the direction of the airflow. I usually use about 2-3, 10 sec. blasts.

I typically see my MPG's improve the days/weeks following as well.

Sounds like ill be doing it with the proper spray, its better that way. Thanks everyone, and as @GAknight said you saw mpg gain- ive also heard it gives faster throttle response? Anything else that will come out of a MAF and tb cleaning?

How often are you guys doing it? I guess technically not needed unless youre throwing codes but can this be considered preventative maintenance every few oil changes?

Like I mentioned, I have to disassemble a few pieces when I clean the filter anyway. I take the time to wipe down the airbox and tubes as well. It's just way to easy to unplug the MAF sensor and spray it off. The extra mgps I get (for the next few days at least) are worth my time, IMO.
