The state has a website which list all of that. Not sure what it is, but I'll see if I can't find it

I have. It's a ton of fun. I went with my 2016 Tacoma. I swear it was impossible to get that truck stuck. It climbed up some really sketchy stuff too. Totally stock with sliders.

I haven't taken my tundra out there though. And to be honest, I will probably buy an old 4Runner and add a lift and tires for off roading.

I'll pull it on a flat bed with my Tundra;)

As the others have said, there’s Bridgeport and Gilmer. EDRA and Katemcy Rocks are further south. Shiloh Ridge is in Alto, north of Lufkin. Big Bend Nat’l Park has a few trails, too, but that’s pretty far for most. If you don’t mind going out of state, there’s the former Superlift park in Hot Springs, AR and another park near Clayton, OK.

I’ve done them all except Clayton, Katemcy and EDRA in my old Taco, Bronco and Jeep. Have only done easy trails in the Tundra at Big Bend and Bridgeport. It’s not so much the Tundra’s width as it is it’s long wheelbase and heavy weight that make it more challenging, especially in tight, wooded trails and steep descents.

Shiloh ridge is closed and doesn't sound like it will be re-opening. Hate it too, that one was like 30 minutes from my house

Didn’t know they had closed. That’s a shame. It was mostly mud from what I remember the times I had gone, but I always liked the surrounding pine tree scenery.

Also forgot about Marble Falls. Haven’t been there yet but it looks scenic.

I used to go to Bridgeport on fairly regular basis when I had a jeep, its a nice park and would be great with ATV. As others mentioned Barnwell is another really good one. No matter where you go make sure buy the state off-road sticker. The parks won't enforce it but Rangers can show up and spot check.

Just got back from Hidden Falls, the park close to Marble Falls. Had a rough string of "luck" keeping my jeep on the trails. Crank sensor within an hour of being there. Water pump on the first trail after crank sensor, then battery went to shit and proceeded to knock my alternator out. Great park, climbed Loose Rock, a 5-rated trail before we decided to call it on Sunday morning. Gotta go back and handle business.

Barnwell is close. Let's rally up and hit that puppy. Gotta put new alternator on, but I'm ready. before it gets too hot...
@rustynail, thanks for mentioning that. Need to buy another, mine's been expired for several years, but they never try to sell me one. Not sure they even have them at Barnwell. Hidden falls didn't check or care either. Can I order online?

Sounds like your jeep was protesting - lol. At least you got it up a 5-rated trail.

Anyway, not sure why, but TPWD doesn’t offer the OHV stickers online. You have to call, pay by phone, and then they snail mail it to you. Took them two weeks for mine to arrive by mail. It used to be that Barnwell sold them. Been awhile since I’ve been, so I don’t know if they still do.

It was definitely protesting! Told one of the guys with me, should be good to go. not much else on the engine that can fail!

Hmmm, that's odd. I may check local TPWD office, then call Barnwell.

When it comes time to renew the stickers can be purchased at most ATV/motorcycle dealerships

I tried that route twice before. The local shops I went to didn’t have any extra to sell me. This time around I decided to call TPWD directly. Granted, I wasn’t in any rush to get mine, but I guess if you have something planned in the next few days that route may take too long.

Also, I think someone mentioned Hidden Falls didn’t ask for one? Not all parks require an OHV sticker. Only those that have received public grant funds to build or maintain them, like TMTC (Barnwell and EDRA) and Bridgeport. I think Hidden Falls and Katemcy may be wholly private, but I could be wrong about that.

Marble Falls is nice. I mostly rode ATV every time I've been but there's a decent campground, camp store, with showers and some amenities. Trails were nice, some difficult ones. Bring lots of water, its in the hill country and can be dry.

I’ve had my Tundra thru Barnwell and Hidden Falls (park near Marble Falls) and they are both great Parks. Camping at Barnwell is better in my opinion, but no need for a OHV sticker at HF since it’s a privately owned park. Both parks also have cabins you can rent if you want, they’re just bunk houses with a AC at HF but the bathroom and showers aren’t far.

Hidden falls is going to be a road trip for me, but not out of the question.

Ill report back on barnwell. I have a pioneer, plus there will be two teryx, a maverick, a rhino and maybe a few dirt bikes in our group.

We had a blast at barwell today. One teryx and i cut a tire each, but were able to make it out. Had our rigs on 3 & 2 tires several times.

Quite a few jeeps and four wheelers out there today, not may side by sides. Saw one yota (TRD pro tacoma).

It would be very difficult to take a tundra on the trails we were on due to the length.

Yeah, it’s no so much the width as it is our Tundra’s longer wheelbase. My old Ford Bronco was just as wide, but it’s wheelbase was shorter than my 1st gen ext cab Taco and handled the tighter trails better, despite its heavier weight. Aside from that, the Taco was still superior because of its rear locker and lighter weight. But the Tundra has the weight and wheelbase as its disadvantage for the more wooded , off-camber trails.
