I found some jobs in Vegas recently. I hate the politics and the laws here, and most of the people are lame too.

But after some serious thought, the rest of the positives outweigh whatever any other state has to offer. I just did some MTB the other day, 5 min from work, 85 and sunny, then went home to chill. Tomorrow I'll repeat, same temps. Sat I'll be in Big Bear, 90 min drive, 75 and sunny. Sun I'll be in Huntington beach, 90 min drive, partly cloudy and 70 deg.

In 3 weeks I'll drive 3 hours north and be in the Sequoia's camping at 8k-10k' next to a creek in the middle of nowhere and we'll hike to the top of a waterfall with zero humans within a 5 mile radius.

There's a reason CA is crowded. What needs to happen is the minority needs to start speaking up and we need to change this state and it's politics. Maybe one day we'll wake up

Just paid $84 for my registration renewal here in "Hey, a tax would look good on that!" Canada. I guess I'll scratch California off my could move to states list.

Actually, it was never on the list to begin with but even more reason now. LOL.

There is already quite a bit of people moving out of California. Here in the DFW area, we have seen traffic get so bad that the construction cannot keep up. They complete one highway and it's already too full again. People are leaving areas like Cali and Illinois to avoid the high taxation. That has caused home values to rise which in term has caused property taxes to increase. Many major corporations have left and are looking at leaving these states and heading to Texas. The most recent one was Toyota.

This is the biggest myth. They've been saying this since the 90s.

The fact is that CA population has been growing at just under 1% for over 10 years or more

Since the last census in 2010, Texas grew by about 3 million people and California 2 million. But considering Texas is almost twice as big as California, California is actually getting more crowded than Texas is. I hope more people leave CA.

I don't know how many or what type of illegals are counted in the census. I think they should all be deported and denied any type of government assistance, driving or voting privilege, and they shouldn't be sitting on juries. Like I said, I don't like the politics or the laws here.

But fact is population is growing and if I cared to research business I would find that business growth is still outpacing every other state by a wide margin.

We're not going to change this state by misrepresenting facts and perpetuating myths

True, I'm sure they miss a bunch of them. But they do try pretty hard to get more federal dollars. I know they try really hard to count as many homeless as they can.

a lot of younger tech guys/gals moving to CA and middle classes families moving out..drive the prices up...look at the bay area...now L.A/OC well on its way. my younger coworkers don't mind paying $5 for coffee and $3500 for a one bedroom apartment rent by the beach...however they have no plans whatsoever for retirement...

Yup, one of the most beautiful places on earth with perfect weather. Only thing I don't like about the Bay Area is having to drive 4 hours to go wheeling. That kinda sucks.

I moved to CO in 2010. Now that we have a kid we want to be close to our family, which is all in CA. But we just can't. It is too expensive in every sense of the word. Might end up moving to Florida though because the beach is calling me . . .

"expensive" is another myth. Only the coast is expensive. I live 45 minutes from the beach and the home prices are equivalent to my parents neighborhood in Vancouver WA, about 1/3rd the cost of homes in Los Angeles

but factor in high income tax, high gas prices, high property tax, extremely high water bills and mandatory water conservation, etc.

I have. Property tax is cheaper than other areas if you disregard mello-roos. If you include it, then it gets higher, but you also get amenities for that money. So for most of the newer neighborhood, you get more services for the property tax money you spend. Compare to an area like arkansas. The property taxes there aren't cheap, but you get exactly nothing for your money.

Gas taxes are high, true. Hoepfully we repeal some of that in Nov

Water is not high, we just need a lot of it becuase of our climate. I actually paid more for water/sewer in WA

We don't have mandatory water conservation right now. That was just for a brief time last year. Yes, water is an issue, but only if you care about lawns.
