Definitely subbing to this thread. Gonna plan a trip out west later this year. You guys have the best scenery!

Rim Rocker is the one I did. This pic was actually off the trail in CO (forgot I wasn't in UT yet, oops) Y11Rd along the Dolores river. I didn't do many trails in UT.

 

I've only done Toquerville Falls near St. George. We have a huge trip in July for my birthday where we'll be hitting parts of Utah but mostly Moab and then heading over to Ouray in Colorado.

Nice. Rim Rocker pretty easy? I've heard of it but haven't done much research yet.

 

cool. when in july? fj summit is from 18-22 and it'll be a zoo beyond zoos. if you want some company, maybe i'll cruise down.

give me a day or two, i'll gather up my swell info. i would also recommend taking a peak at the utah bdr route. there's some good stuff in there.

Leaving San Diego on the 7th and heading to Moab first until the 9th and then to Ouray until the 11th. I'm trying to avoid the FJ Summit traffic. I went there during summit #8 when I had my FJ and it was a clusterfuck on all the trails. You're always welcome to join up and show me around! Haha.

 

Only place I know of is the Beach, I'm sure other Houston Area members would know, but they NEVER wanna get together with me, oh well

 

Are you looking for something more technical or easier, but fun and scenic type trail?

Shafer Trail has some great scenery and will get you from Moab into Island in the Sky. Nothing too technical. Stock vehicles can do it, it's fun driving on slick rock though. A few rocky climbs and a set of switchbacks with a killer view when you head up into the park. It connects with the White Rim Road if you wanted to do an overnight trip on that (permit needed I think).

Chicken Corners is a fun trail that has a couple semi technical spots. Awesome scenery. Takes you out to the point across the Colorado from Dead Horse Point (Chicken Corners). I did part of it in my stock Tundra, and all of it in a Wrangler. There's some more hardcore trails that branch off in the area.

If you want to do something overnight in one of the most remote areas in the lower 48, I would hit the Maze. There are two main entry roads. One north of Hanksville on 24 and one south on 95. There'll be some technical stuff, but shouldn't be any problem for you. I've done Hans Flat to Maze overlook in a stock Tundra. Scenery is insane. You'll need a permit for camping and a portable baño.

If you're near Capitol Reef NP, the trail to Strike Valley Overlook near the Burr Trail switchbacks was fun short trip in my Grand Cherokee a few years back.

Didn't take pics of the truck, but took pics of the scenery. This was last fall hunting. Haven't been out this spring yet because of busy work schedule. These next ones are from same area, but the year before last hunting season. Mainly gravel roads to small trails down some of the slops. Nothing hardcore, but definitely need 4x4 and good traction tires though as they are steep inclines on muddy trails in the fall.

I am in a wonderful area. Desert 30 minutes west. Mountains 10 minutes east. Biggest town is where I live at just over 30k, nothing bigger for at least an hour in diameter away. Lots of little towns. Hunting/fishing/hiking you name it for outdoors activities. Only other place I will live is a valley about 100 miles away with basically same set up but bigger river to play on with sand beaches. 4 seasons. Love the Pacific Northwest.

 

Technically I was on road, but much of it barely qualifies. After installing the American Racing headers, these wild bison recognized the sound of my Tundra as one of their own. A stampede started immediately. But seriously, it was pretty awesome to see a herd of wild bison here in the lower 48 somewhere other than the greater Yellowstone area where they are so accustomed to human presence. These bison wanted nothing to do with me and led me down the road for almost 10 minutes before they split off into a thick aspen forest. This is in a very remote area between Vernal and Moab, UT.
