Thanks! Definitely trying to, the wife was basically devastated when she had to go back work ... (I was thinking to myself I've been working this whole time :boink:)

At least she gets the summers off

It's a woman thing.... don't be too hard on her. I'm a divorced mom if 2..... it's not easy working and taking care of them. I still miss events once in a while and that upsets me. The first few years of their lives so much happens you don't want to miss it.....

Oh I'm not trust me, I'm glad she was able to have that time but it still would be nice if I had gotten a week or so. I'm sure being a single parent brought a whole new share of challenges.

Totally agree with you there, currently she's adamant about not missing the first time he rolls over.

If you have someone good who is caring for him while y'all are at work and it happens while he is with them.... they will keep their mouths shut lol

Thanks! He must have taken after his mother then .

Thank you, although I'd call it more perseverance where I get better with time. Much appreciated though.

Well isn't that an endless struggle :D, I keed of course.

Yeah it’s just like back in school when other kids would tell me they’d never study but somehow end up getting all As.

Definitely never studied or did body work

Thank You. Haha I must say I'm a bit guilty of that, especially college studying a couple hours before the tests. What's funny is in high school it was basically as you described, then come graduation my ex (at the time) graduates valedictorian and I salutatorian. Needless to say there were feelings of animosity as I had to announce her on stage .... college passed .... she's my wife now.

My Tekonsha P3 and new rotary buffer should be arriving today so work can continue.

Really nice job bringing a dead soldier back to life. It looks great. For not being a body kind of guy you seem to have body work down pat. How does she track? Drive straight without and dog walking? Welcome to 3rd gen life!

    Subbed.

All my Toyota Trucks for the past 25 years have been wrecks that I rebuild myself.

I'm presently shopping for my next project Tundra.

I'm especially interested in side and ceiling air bag replacement. I've not had to do those swap outs yet.

It is amazing how good of a deal you can get buying parts from Toyota dealers. Once you have a history with the parts man, it seems the prices only get cheaper.

I was blown away when my dealer sold me a brand new front door for my double cab. Charged me $560. I couldn't find a used one for less than $800 and I still had to paint it.

Looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks! Just got to drive it yesterday, stupid PA titled it as a sedan so I have to wait for them to fix their screw up before I can proceed to get a plate. In the meantime, I took my Ohio bill of sale and got Ohio temp tags yesterday. Let's just say you wouldn't think it's ever been in an accident. Took it on the highway and it was effortless, only complaint would be the noise from the M/T tires but that's the price you pay.

Nice to see a fellow re-builder. It's rewarding when it's all said and done isn't it? I mean it's one thing when you go to a lot and pay for a vehicle but it's another when you get this build it from the ground up (in some cases).

Do you know what kind of Tundra you're in the market for?

The curtain air-bags are pretty simple. One per side and no other ones. Just 10mm bolts holding it on and a typical SRS plug around the B pillar area. Pricing on them can be outrageous, lowest I've seen was on Car-Part.com. There are differences between Regular, Double, and CrewMax but be careful aftermarket nomenclature is different like a Double Cab is Technically Extended and a CrewMax is Extended Crew (it's weird and there seems to be no set standard.)

Yeah I'm starting to realize that, especially if you have an account then it's a whole different ball game.

I wish I could have gotten a brand new door for that much, would have saved me quite a bit of time to be honest.

Anyways, appreciate the kind words and keep me posted on what you find. I know I was pretty particular in my searches, the only thing I wasn't set on was Double or CrewMax but that's cause my family is just growing and I think the Double Cab has ample room.

    Thanks for the follow up.

I'm leaning towards a Crew Max this time. Its not set in stone. I have been checking out the Sequoia's as well. I've never owned an SUV before. Seeing how they get the same MPG as a Four runner, might as well have the extra space.

    Just fine.

Of course, if you try it with a CM, you won't want the DC. Don't try it and you won't miss it.

The Crew Max is definitely nice if you don't need the extra bed space. Also, from what I've seen they will fetch an extra 2-3k at auction due to increased popularity. Can't comment on Sequoia's really but I'd expect it to be just like at Tundra in terms of fuel economy, nonexistant. My wife drives a 2011 BMW X5 Diesel, now this thing gets around 19 city and close to 30 highway. Once the warranty is up, it's getting deleted and hopefully more power/better economy.

Back to CrewMax vs Sequoia, unless you need third row I think you'll get more utility out of the truck.

Yup, haven't had too much of an issue. I'll try to take a picture next time I have an opportunity. Yes, with CrewMax you'll have "just fine" plus an extra foot for activities!

I said I was interested in the Sequoia, the wife on the other hand wants nothing to do with an SUV and loves trucks. I bet you can guess what the next rig will be.

We also have 2, 1st gen Tacoma's for our daily drivers, but the Tundra is the rig we take on the road. Once you hit 80 mph with any of our trucks, the mpg is within 3 mpg of each.

I'm sure there will be no doubt that the next project will be a Tundra DC.

Thanks for the info on curtain air bags. I've had little to do with them yet.

When I did my present Tundra 5 years ago, Copart was not allowing the public to bid. Now they do. I used a buddy of mine with a licence to purchase. I'm curious if the public bidding process is much different.

Typically, I went through someone that held a business license. This time around though I made my own account and did the deposit. Each state has their own rules on who can bid and copart provides a decent map that explains it. For example in PA I can bid on anything but in OH I can only bid on salvage. Plus as I found out the hard way, public buyers get different auction fees than business ones so in the end it's cheaper to go through someone that has a business account.
