Hello from Maryland! Got my first 2011 Tundra sr5 double cab TRD Edition. I found this site while searching for a "removal of rack and pininon" issue. I'm hoping to get more info and keep up to date on what's going on with the Tundra owners community. I can seem to remove the rack after disconneting the lines and the bolts. Any help is most appreciatied. Hope to make some friends within the community. Cheers!

Welcome from Ca. I'd be interested in what you find on this subject, I'm kinda hard on my steering rack. @KevinK just had his done. @osidepunker might have some advise too.

    What up homie!

If you disconnected all the lines and the tie rods, the rack should come out through the opening in the frame on the passenger side. I haven't done it myself, but this is my understanding. @papasmurf has done it himself a bunch of times

    Also @n2deep

I think you have to move it all the way to one side, rotate it a little, move it back to the other side, rotate it again, and then slide it out. We just had ours done at the dealership, who removed our front dif when they did it, but we have a lot of suspension stuff going on they didn't want to remove.

All 3 failed racks were done under warranty so have no idea. The new rack I have is sitting in a box in the attic and I hope I don't have to install it anytime soon. lol
