My Tundra with a 5th wheel

What do you experts think. Will my truck be fine with this rig?

We do weekend camping and dont have any high mountain passes to go over. We are in Arizona and travel within the state or over to San Diego.

We travel very light. VERY LIGHT.

Some clothes, 2 bikes and pack of water bottles. We shop for food when we get to our destination.

Check the inside of your driver side door for payload ratings for your specific truck. With a dry hitch weight of 1380 I’m guessing you’ll be over payload once you add up passengers, gear etc. Those stated dry hitch weights are usually lower than real world numbers also.

 

77mmbass that trailer is a no go for sure!! It is over your payload limit dry. You need to upgrade your truck or find a smaller trailer period. And to say we have no high passes in AZ is not accurate. Do you tow to Payson or Flagstaff to escape the summer heat? Phoenix is at 1100' Flag is at 7000' that is a huge elevation change in 130 miles. The drive up to the Mogollon rim I feel is even harder. Do yourself and all those on our roads a favor and get a bigger truck or a smaller trailer. I also suggest to read read read this forum lots of good info. I’m selling my 7800 lbs 5th wheel due to the Tundra (also 5.7). I pulled it with a 1 ton GMC with the 6.0 gas jobby and it was still wasn’t fun to pull. To climb any hills the truck was at 4 grand just to stay in the power band to pull... We’re looking for a smaller one now. I would stay clear of this unit personally. Just out of my own experience with big trailers and gas motors.
