    Very similar to this.
    http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/1...-2013/316018-2010-5-7-transmission-slips.html

and this quote, "i dont really hear anything but i can feel it..it is just annoying..i dont have to hit the gas hard either..just a normal takeoff..it feels like it engages hard..even when i am slowing down but do not stop completely then i give it gas it feels like it trying to catch up and when it does thats when i feel that weird shift"

When accelerating it's either go fast or go really slow, past 2nd gear it evens out. When decelerating I can feel little surges as the transmission downshifts and even see surges in the tachometer. Nothing drastic, just little ones. Does this whether cold or hot. Shifts from park to drive just fine, no delay. 93k miles.

I just bought this last week and dealer gave me their service report. They did a transmission drain and fill w/synthetic fluid, no flush. since this is a sealed system with no dipstick it looks like it's not an easy task to check the fluid level. Anyone have instructions? Should I check it or worry? Anyone else experiencing the same thing with their 2nd gen? (If you even notice it, may be most folks are just used to it and this is the way it drives).

Edit: After another drive I found it's not really an issue when accelerating, just the feel of it when decelerating.

Not normal. My 07 with 89K works great. I'd take it back to dealer and take service rep for a test drive.

Not gonna lie man I notice it. When I'm decelerating it feels like it starts to hum like its looking for something or when I am cruising at a light in town speed its humming like it's missing something but it doesnt drive bad at all just a minor noise I notice upon deceleration but then again I have only had the truck for 5 weeks and idk if that's just normal for these beasts

I would take it back and get them to fix it.

The fact they noted this makes me feel a little better. Also the drain and refill, no flush.

That is the correct Toyota fluid (I just did mine, it's not cheap) also did my filter as it seems so did they.

The question is why did they do it? I'd bring it in, show them what it's doing. If they are reputable they will fix it.

Sounds similar, I'll take mine for a spin and see if it's the same.

Mine isn't humming at all, no clunks or other noises either. It actually seemed better today, maybe I'm just learning how to control the throttle. Decelerating it still surges/pulses, nothing drastic, just enough to be annoying.

Haha, yeah my in-laws had one when my wife and I were dating. You could beat it to death and it would still run, but it was the most uncomfortable car I had ridden in. I drove an 86 Isuzu Trooper growing up which wasn't much different, great reliability tho. Old wranglers feel like that to me too. Not very solid.

Drain and fill isn't easy, but it's not out of the DIY realm. Video posted here has great instructions. I've read a LOT of posts online about this issue and a lot of people say they fixed slipping and whatever else just by drain and fill. Probably worth it for piece of mind in your case.

It could also be the "propeller" (drive shaft). You're supposed to re-grease the u-joints every 5k miles. I had a Mustang with bad u-joints and it caused all sorts of weird issues - humming, jerks on acceleration, really bad shutter at highway speeds.

+1, could be low on fluid.

Mine isn't jerking or making anything unnecessary. Just hums when coasting or decelerating. It has a Volant CAI. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.
