Anyone have a recommendation for a water proof tote. Mostly looking for something to pack clothing and food in when taking trips and having to throw that stuff in the back of the truck. I’d like something that I coud secure (lock the lid and secure to the truck, possibly via the bed rails) to the point that a random tweaker couldn’t walk by and grab stuff while I run into a store.

I'd check out what Pelican might have. Pricey but Pelican may have just what you are looking for. http://www.pelican.com/us/en/

Sportsman’s warehouse has water tight plastic totes for ammunition in various sizes.
Not sure how to secure em in the bed.
Many people use a cover for that. I’m using a shell.

I remember some guys over at tacomaworld that loved a tote from Wal-Mart. I'll have to see if I can find the brand. It may have been Stanley but don't quote me on that

I know which one you are talking about. I think only around $50. Pretty big and lockable.

Rubbermaid action packer is what I was trying to think of
Also husky makes a decent one I guess, available at home depot.
They both have nice lids with latches to keep them secure.

The Pelican options would definitely get the job done, but they’ll probably be worth more than the stuff I’ll be putting in them.

I’m running dual action packers secured by a tie down strap. Works great, keeps my gear dry as a bone while still accessible.

I use Plano Sportsman Trunks for all our camping gear. They've kept everything dry even in torrential downpours. They're also around half the price of an action packer. They come in a couple different sizes too.

We use these are work for our range stuff.... ammo, targets, tri pods, spare barrels etc.... they hold up to our abuse and the weather we have had them in (hot as hell with high humidity, pouring rain, freezing cold...). They ate pretty NA specially for the price. With the abuse we put them through they last about 6 or so.... and we aren't gentle with them and they are used almost daily.

Not a actual hard sided tote, but the kayak bags are great for clothes and keeping things dry and reasonably priced we lock them to the hooks in the bed

I have nothing to add to the subject, other than its cool to see that you are rocking a power tank. Don't see those on here often, since most guys are running OBA. I have one strapped to my crawler. That is all...

    Please continue storage option discussions..

I know you asked for a tote storage but I would suggest looking at the north face duffel bags for storing clothing. I have the large for winter trips. They are made out of a very thick vinyl material. I like that they have back pack straps for hiking. This is handy if you entend to hike into a site with your gear. I store these in the uncovered bed of my truck through rain and snow and my clothes stay dry.

I 2nd this. We bought the bags during the REI 20% off sale and they have been troopers. Zero issues with water and dust intrusion. Keeping water out isn't as hard, keeping dust out is the difficult part. We've used ours in the dessert and haven't had issues.

Im wanting to get a Jobox...Dealer here local has them all in stock. Not sure how waterproof they are. Need one that i can lift by myself when empty. Heavy duty steel handle construction so i can use my heavy duty chains to secure it to my bed d rings. With the plastic boxes, most of them dont have handles that you can run a chain thru and it seems like if they do then the plastic is easily cut. Straps are easily cut. The less i have to worry about someone stealing my gear the better. Need a cordless grinder to steal it.

If you go with a Jobox you can install stainless steel locking bolts through the bottom of th box and the bed of your truck. Then thieves can’t get to the bolts easily.

I’m a Patagonia poster child so I agree with this in theory but, I would go with Patagonia’s Black Hole duffel. I have a few in varying sizes and the bags are bulletproof. Bonus, you get their amazing customer service.

I will use the chains to start with but damn it would be nice to have holes ready to bolt thru. Maybe use two of the bed bolts?
There was a guy on here who bolted a Ridgid box in his bed and it was really nice how he did it.

If your ok with drilling new holes in your bed then the install would be very simple. Just make sure you don’t drill through anything below the bed. Make sure you use stainless steel hardware and seal the newly drilled holes to prevent rust.

I ended up grabbing a couple of the Plano ones from a local Dick’s Sporting Goods. If they don’t work out, I’ll find another use for them and try one of the options that are pricier. My initial impression with the Plano’s is that locking will be annoying because it will require weaving a thin cable lock through all 4 holes near the latches since there are no hinges and the latches can’t be locked. Then the cable lock will have to be long enough to secure to the truck (via d-ring or bed rail).
