Hi. New member here. Just got my First Gen '03 limited Access Cab. She was a rollover, barely, and I got her to build into a tow vehicle / art car. Looking to part out a lot of the exterior, and build a custom roll cage.
If you have a similar rig and are looking for parts, DM me :bananadance:
    silver, purplish, magnetic gray maybe?...
Excited to start digging in to this mess....

Thanks all. finally some updates.. :dancingbacon::dancingbacon::dancingbacon:

pulled the lil step up guys off... (both sides, only one photo)

pulled the front bumper... careful with that airbag sensor...
(removed that lil guy, for now)

here's what I am working with on the ol' lid... all the doors are sound, except the driver, which looks like the latch is the culprit...

not looking too bad.... over all

transmission is a little rough in and out of R... assuming this is due to being upside down... thinking new juice and seals will help her..

Bed is right about ready to come off... this is a little different than pulling the bed on my 1stGenTaco... that was SIIIIIMPLE...
this one has a couple more bolts holding the gas tank tube to the bed... and had to pull the Liner out... (which is available)
The taco is just six bolts and the tube lives with the frame. but overall bed is in good shape for whatever is next in it's life...

well, here is the loose direction.... I will append later....

    Concept
    • Artcar
      • Flatbed truck with extending panels, (ideally 3x the truck width when extended, 90* supports to meet the frame.
      • Plush outdoor fabric / cushioning for passengers.
      • Outdoor/marine speakers, subwoofers, amps and exciters (all weatherproofed or enclosed in cab) https://www.parts-express.com/auras...source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pla

      • High-res short-throw outdoor projector
      • Non-Screen projection screen (surface TBD) - attached to back of cab
      • perimeter LED safety lights (w RGB controller)
      • step-up Boat Style ladder at rear
      • air bag support/suspension

      • Mounted laser

    • Tow Vehicle
      • Plate front bumper (simple as heck)
      • Plate rear bumper (also soo simple)
      • Low-to-ground-spot- lighting - as reasonably long distance as possible - front and rear.
      • Front bumper winch
      • Onboard air - OR - large compressed air tanks
      • Onboard water tank

    Exterior:
    • Driver and passenger windows
    • Driver door
    • RatRod - larger rear tires (need to learn about how this will affect other systems)
    • Roof - front 1/4 cab

    • Clad in thin gauge steel,
      • Ideally replacing all external panels with angular MadMax/NolanEra-Batmobile look feel, as a bear head, with teeth out (panels mount to existing mount locations)
      • minimally distressed with chemical seal to prevent corrosion.
      • LEDs every-damn-where
    • Custom flat bed,
      • Angle iron perimeter w tie-down points
      • 2x6 or 2x8 board floor - weather treated
      • Secure lock box for tools and gear
      • Winch to bed
      • Second Battery at rear
    Interior:
    • As this will be a desert truck, keeping the interior plushy is the goal. Leather interior is intact and clean.
    • A/C recharged as needed.
    • CB, mic, etc
    • Antenna cable, etc
    • "new" mats
    • monitor (reverse and bed cam)

    To Start:
    • Remove Rack, assess project scope.
    • Pull the bed off, everything from the cab back. Sell as many pieces of the exterior as possible.
    • Address Battery (lead acid upside down = no good ) thinking gel, probably not Optima tho.. Die Hard maybe??
    • Begin cardboard mock ups

Bed is off. Woohoo. Sure is fun zipping around all nekkid like that.

    [IMG] [IMG]

This was more complex than taking the bed off my first gen taco.
But now there is a Liner and a Bed ready to go find a new home.
Six big ass torx bolts, two for the gas tank stem, and the wires to the lights.
Surprisingly there wasn't really anything holding the liner in...

Next up getting the driver door to latch...
I punded out the new angle on the upper part of the door, so everyone is meeting up nicely, but the Latch is pretty much destroyed, so I am off to YodaJims to dig around, and learn how the latch works.

    solved the limp gassline issue...

just took one M12 -1.25 Fine Thread hex bolt.... in the bed bolt hole.

and a washer, for good measure.
