Pudge, I have 7 farms that I help control pests on. The furs from the coyotes I harvest are given to a lady in a nearby county. She tans them and turns them into all kinds of things, which she sells to support herself. Along with other crafts and things she makes at home. The carcasses are added to a composter on one of the farms and put back on the fields.
They are extremely harmful in our area, taking livestock and domestic pets alike. I enjoy the hunt.

Thanks for that info. I agree they are very harmful and costly to many farmers and other as well. I'm glad someone gets some use from them, because otherwise they are useless IMO

Took these 4 does last season with management tags. It's legal in Texas to hunt with suppressors and handy when you need to thin the herd.20171206_095912.jpg

Wow. Cool to see so many avid hunters on here and such an active thread. Really glad to see a lot of the respectful explanations to what could have otherwise been negative interactions in this thread. And glad to see some focus on the food. Wild game when prepared well is truly the best food on earth...

I look forward to sharing my adventures with you all in the future.

Some great hunting in UT, my elk partner and I have been fortunate. Weve managed to get at least one for the past 4 seasons, but we doubled this year and were done on day4. Been many places in CO too, and it’s always our backup plan b/c of the OTC tags.

What area of utah do you hunt? The last two years I've hunted out of rifle, co. which isn't too far from utah.

That's awesome. We hunted between rifle and meeker, west of highway 13. Heres the bull I got last year (my first), first rifle season, second morning. 524 yards with a 300wm:

Hell yeah, nice work Jeff. For me, there’s just something about elk hunting. Sorry you had to miss this year. 2019 will be the first season I will miss in 20 years—but by choice...got a few friends in AK taking me for moose...can’t wait

Thanks. Something about it for me too. I could load up and go tonight if I could. I will be going next year for sure.

I bet the moose hunt will be epic. We used to see a few when we hunted out of granby, co a few years back. Awesome animals for sure.

I get it, it’s the epitome of a western style hunt, I’ve been in on a couple of those too. Then, bout 14 years ago we started doing backcountry stuff with ultralight gear and packing camp on our backs. Mountain house, titanium cook gear and tent stakes, carbon fiber tent poles, the whole 9 yards. Trying to stay as light as possible was absolutely key, cuz we’d just keep moving until we got in em. I even rationed out a daily allotment of 16 TP squares a day.
One evening we were 5 miles in and killed 2 bulls. I remember getting back to spike camp to meet my buddy and he was covered in blood and so was I. We were like ‘now what’re we gonna do?’ I’m getting to old for that shit now!!

Ed Zachary!! Or my back. This moose hunt coming up is a DIY float trip. AK F&G stipulates that we take out all meat on the bone, so I’m not even sure what a bull moose hind quarter weighs. I’m thinking 135-140...anyone know? It’s the AK Yukon moose too—the big ones.
