Has any one add a fuel door latch? I don't like that my tank is exposed. Meaning anyone can take my gas whenever they want. I don't like the idea of a lock on the door. So I want to add a latch to release the fuel door.

Any suggestions on a aftermarket part or success on using parts from another year, make, and model?

Latches are too easy to pop, get a locking gas cap. Stant makes one that works.

I have tried two locking gas caps, not sure what brand, and twice my fuel was taken. Not a deterrent at all.

I will check out the stant one but if anyone has other ideas please share and I will post my end result.

I forgot to add it was a 2000 S10 I had the locking gas cap issue.

I use one of these. $5. Makes it hard to siphon gas, although some banditos will drill a hole in the bottom of your tank to get gas.[IMG]

Ya, I'd have to agree with @matluth, if they want the fuel bad enough, there isn't much that's going to stop them. Kind of a vulnerability that we don't think about too often.

Yes a thief will take what they want. I just hope that I can do enough that I am not an easy target time and time again. They will go somewhere else.

Thank you matluth, this is the first I have heard about the Gas Bandit Blocker.

This is what I have. http://www.autoanything.com/chrome-accessories/61A1996A0A0.aspx

I originally did not want to install one of these, but after someone took all four tire valve caps (prank, I imagine), I didn't want to take chances with gas tank. Locking fuel door will not make it impenetrable, but it will at least deter them.

Some Mods :) See build thread for details
I would think this would be better than the locking cap.
