i'm having a hard time visualizing this. is the SBB-5 replacing your am/fm antenna? i was thinking i'd put mine into the roof but i wouldn't want to snap it off with a low overhanging tree or something.

This is a stake pocket antenna mount. Our trucks (at least the 6.5' bed guys) have four stake pockets, two on each side.)Screen Shot 2018-05-03 at 4.13.38 PM.jpg

I've thought a lot about doing this again, but with two 2m and two 70cm whips on the roof of the Tundra.
The 2m whips are $9 each, and so flexible they would be very difficult to break on a tree. the 70cm whips are so short, they're unlikely to hit things.

Yikes. Those are a lot of work. Is that LED? Is there a cutoff needed for LED?

Those are Infinity Q45 Projectors from a 2004. I'm putting in HID bulbs.

The Projector will have a perfect cut off line and the reflector in the housing is going to be painted Satin black, as it's no longer relevant.

Almost got the backup camera installed.... RCA cable is about 5 feet too short. That's alright I'll finish it on Saturday and Sunday when all the radio gear goes in.

Nice!! I just did the Kenwood DMX 7704s in my truck. Really modernizes it. Having Apple carplay and voice control is awesome.

yaesu for VHF/UHF and icom for HF? curious as to why you'd run two different brands.

Honestly, I've always preferred the way Icom HF radios sound over Yaesu Radios.
As for VHF/UHF The choices were between the ID-5100, FTM-400XDR, and the TM-D710

I think D-Star is dead, and just doesn't know it yet.
The 400 and 710 are both great radios, at similar prices, and I know other FTM-400 owners, so I MIGHT actually use C4FM with them at some point.

Fair enough. I haven’t upgraded to General yet so I’ll take your word for it.

I had the FTM-350 in my FJ. It was a great radio. I’ve got the 400 still in the box. Just need to get installed. I wasn’t too happy about the size change with the faceplate but I think I have a good spot for it.

Looks great. I am pondering RF bonding at this point. My plastic bed cover does not help. Are you running separate ground wiring from the antenna mount to the frame/body panels?

I haven't gotten that far yet...

The next step though was to bond the bed to the frame in four places
The tailgate to the bed on each side.
The tailgate to the frame on each side.
The hood to the fenders on each side.
and the exhaust to the frame.

Likely going to ground the body to the frame in at least three places on each side as well.

I have 20' of 2" flat braid sitting in a cart waiting for me to purchase.
Going to cut to length everything I need, and then have a friend dip each end of each run into a solder pot.

That'll make drilling the holes to put bolts through a lot easier.

I do have the separation kit for my Icom IC-7000. I've got the radio body bolted to the truck, and I have the face where I want it. I need to run all the cables.

I started to drill out the front two antenna mounts so my UHF mounts will fit through the holes.

I got all of my rock lights, but need to install them still. With luck I'll have all of this done by the end of this weekend.

I also got a new Rear Bumper Skin to replace the one that's on the truck. The one that's on there has a good ding in the driver's side corner. And the inside has a fair amount of cancer. New one has some scratches, but that's fine, it's a truck. I'm going to hit it with some rattle can tomorrow night and get it mounted.

Just got back from a 11 Day, 4000 mile road trip...

Waiting for me when I got back... Three boxes from RCI
    * 10ga Steel Fuel Tank Skid
    * 1/4" Aluminum IFS/Oil pan skid
    * 1/4" Aluminum Transmission/Transfer case skid.

Unfortunately I also came home to broken AC in the house, and it's 96 degrees, so I don't think I'll be putting them on tonight. Maybe tomorrow after work.

Still waiting on the Demello Front bumper, and RCI Heavy Steps.

Well, It's out.... The stock skid has been broken for over a year. It's been hanging down and I'm sure flapping in the wind...

New Skid is 3/4 in. unfortunately the bolt on the frame side in the front snapped off almost immediately. I'm going to drill out the hole tomorrow, and put a nut and washer on the top.

    Lift is done! [IMG]

Unfortunately the Front Drivers Cam Bolt, and Rear Passengers Cam Bolt are both seized in the lower control arms so the alignment is all bad.
Also the Outer Tie Rod end locking nuts were seized up. I've ordered new parts which will be here Tuesday, and will have the alignment done Wednesday including installation.

Since I had to do all that I ordered Camburg Uniball Upper Control arms. Those will be here Monday & I'll install them the same day prior to the Alignment.
