Trusted Mechanics in Denver Metro

Hey guys, my wife's car is acting up. I went to a mechanic and they said they think it is the cat. They believe the cat broke internally and is sliding forward when she is stopping, which is causing the engine to stutter and almost stall. They want 1k to replace the exhaust, which I think is ridiculous for a base model non-turbo 2010 forester.

Does anyone have an idea of who a good second opinion option is? Also, a good exhaust guy who can get me hooked up for cheap - tight on $$ right now (one income life here)?
