Good morning everyone. My headlight are starting to get hazy, what are some of the products you’ve used to get rid of the haziness? I have already used Meguiars plastic polish on them a couple of times but it’s still pretty bad. I’ve looked on here at other posts and couldn’t find a name of any particular product just before and after photos.

If your product is only a polish it will not fix the haze. These kits have a sanding disc and compound included which will take care of or the haze, then polish to protect.

X2 on the heavy duty kit. The wet sanding is what takes the deep grime and haze off. Good call Trooper.

The best way to protect it after buffing them out is actually getting them clear coated.
Sealant and wax only hold up for so long. Especially if you park outside.

The Sylvania kit has a wipe-on, self leveling UV final clear coat included in the kit.

Mark that's a thought. Also I put lamin-x on my fogs, and need to do my headlights.

Daniel that's a temporary fix. It really works good on a glass headlight. Better off getting a kit.

Toothpaste was on hack my life TV show. And or bug spray my gf has used and says it works good and is quick and easy wipe on. I've used the 3M sanding kit and don't reccomend it. Just buy new replacement headlights. The kit I found after sanding and polishing the plastic then yellowed again in a few months to the point you can't see as well again and looks gross

I really appreciate everyone thoughts and recommendations on here, one of my main concerns is how long do they last before you have to go back and do it again. I have been watching several you tube videos on using everything from WD-40 to the heavy duty sanding kits and from what I’ve can tell they don’t last long, maybe a year at the most. It almost seems like I should purchase a whole new set of headlights. What I’m going to do is try the Sylvania kit on one light and the Meguiars on the other, I’ll report back once I get everything done.

My headlights are yello and hazy. We have a scratch and dent guy that will redo them with wet sanding and a heavy clear coat. I cant say what's what on longevity with the way he does them because it's mainly on used cars. But, they look damn good when finished. I, however, think I'm going to just bit the bullet and buy the replacement lens for my truck with the black chrome inner housing. They look REALLY good to me.

Good friend did the Sylvania kit on his 1st gen Tundra 5 years ago and his are still crystal clear. Just finished doing the wife's '05 Mazda 3 headlights and will be doing my 2nd gen tundra next. A piece of advice is once you've coated the headlight with the UV clear protector, do NOT touch it again for at least 4 hours. Then you can reapply if necessary. Also I used a black foam wedge brush which gave a thicker coat that the lint-free towel method described in the instruction and included in the kit, but be careful to not get runs. It is a wet UV clear coat so you may want to try it on a piece of plastic first to get the feel for it...

To save myself the headache of having to restore headlights. The second they start looking slightly hazy, I polish them. After each wash I put a coat of wax on them. Fine cut Maguires polish works great. As well as the basic scratch out stuff in the yellow bottle. If they aren’t too bad this stuff works great.

Stay on top of stuff like this and it will save you from a large amount of effort in one shot.

The issue with the hazing is not just the physical scratches but also the break down of the UV coating on the lenses. Honestly the Sylvania kit is ridiculously easy for the outcome and if I hadn't seen it and then done it myself I wouldn't have believed it. Having said that Instead of using the kit's included 3M sandpaper, I used my Micro Mesh clothes (made for polishing aircraft "glass") in the following order 4000,6000,8000, 12,000 and then Meg's clear plastic polish and then began the Sylvania's process of using the solvent, rinse, solvent and then clear UV coating. I know I sound like I've got stock in the stuff, but I'm just an end user and after decades of using all the other methods, this one won for me, hands down.

Consumer Reports rates the Sylvania kit the highest. I have used it a few times and it makes your lenses crystal clear. However, after a year or two , you may need to do it again. It takes a couple of hours to do the job right.

Blown away by the sylvania kit. I’ve tried several different ones. This kit is amazing. The pics are from my 08 mazda 3. It lives outside in Yuma, AZ. Spent 7 years outside in El Centro, CA. Anyone familiar w area knows 110-120 is normal for summer. I wish I’d have taken a before pic. My car had some bad cataracts. Super hazy. Gonna do the wife’s Camry later. Will do before and after pics.
