That's also why I don't like ultra large wheels. Just to damn fragile for a daily driver. Free really good pot holes and gaps in Colorado highways was bad for my vw r32.

For the original plasti on bumpers, was that just matte with gloss? Looks good via phone but can't see to clearly either.

Trying to decide which parts of my chrome to black out and which to just clear coat and turn into brushed aluminum. Did you also plasti the middle or just the chrome end pieces?

I just plasti-dipped the chrome end caps on the front and rear bumpers. The middle was already black plastic along with the fog light housings. I used the regular plasti-dip which is matte and it looked perfect when it was first applied, but now you can see a few very small areas that are starting to peel. If I were to touch it up, I would just spray over the top of it covering all blemishes like I used to on my Tacoma's front bumper (when it had one).

I recently ordered some vinyl wrap for the bumper end caps in magnetic grey metallic. I'm waiting on the order to get here and a nice day to get it done, so I'll be removing the plasti-dip soon.

Just matte blend with the black center decently? Been trying to figure out if I should dip the black center too so it's uniform across.

For that smaller area how bad is the cost of vinyl? I cried back when I looked at doing black hood/roof and accents on that vw.

The center of the front and rear bumper blend almost perfectly with the regular (matte) plasti-dip. And I spent around $90 with shipping for the vinyl. I have a friend that does window tinting that said he could help me put it on too.

    Nicely done!

Sucks that some A$$ Wipe keyed you though.
If I ever caught somebody doing that to ANY of my vehicles (or anybody else's for that matter), the authorities would never find the body.

I had a friend of mine help me with wrapping my front bumper end caps with vinyl over the weekend. The color was almost a perfect match and you wouldn't even notice it unless I told you. Hopefully next weekend we can get the rear done!

Also... I will never Plasti-Dip anything ever again if I plan on removing it. It was a pain in the ass!

The headlights came out great. Was that the first time you ever did a retrofit? I am on the fence about doing it myself or paying someone to do it.

Also is that SunTek paint protection I see on there?

Thanks! I did two previously to this one... one on my 2009 Tacoma and one set on my dad's 2001 Tundra. It's super easy after the first one! I highly recommend them to anyone that wants the best lighting. I would tell beginners to research videos on YouTube, and contact www.theretrofitsource.com on the phone to see what kit would be best for your wants/skill level.

Thanks for the info. I have checked out TRS and that's who I would buy my parts from, but I want to make sure I can get my headlights separated myself before ordering. I also may pay someone to do it, but I like projects and also like saving money. I have a headlight in the oven as we speak, these headlights are nasty to get apart.

275°F for 10 minutes and they'll come right apart! Make sure to remove all screws and bulbs. You can leave the level adjuster if you have it, as that's what I did and it still works perfectly.

Thanks for the cooking tips! I have been using 265, did a couple sessions but I finally got some separation! Hopefully one more time in the oven and some pulling will get them completely apart. There is light at the end of the tunnel! I did the same, left the adjuster in, took out all screws and bulbs.

One is apart. Then I had to get back to life. I plan on doing the other by the end of the week. If TRS has some good deals for black Friday I will pull the trigger and try it myself.

Did you plastidip your reflector bowl? Once you aimed your projector how did you secure it? JB weld on the lock nut?

    Thanks in advance!

I actually bought mine on Black Friday for cheap last year!

I actually painted the reflector bowl with flat black paint for plastics and "color matched" everything else to MGM. I say "color matched" because I used a paint for plastics that is really close to matching MGM and then I used a clear coat for plastics afterwards. Once the projectors were aimed, I just made sure the lock nut was tight and sealed everything back up. JB weld wouldn't hurt though. The only thing I used JB weld on was connecting the projector shroud to the projector.

Three 5'x3' sheets for all four end caps. I over compensated to make sure I had enough. One sheet for the front and 2 for the rear.

Awesome man! Looks like you beat me to the Panamera shroud on a Tundra mod haha! They're still my favorite shroud and eventually I'll start another retro for my new tundra. My tacoma "Rinzler" attracted tons of attention since I started the amber trend and then added a couple more accents inside the headlight

That looks awesome! I love how big the Panamera shroud is and how it looks with the halo behind it. It definitely draws attention everywhere I go. I will probably end up completing another retrofit sometime later and add a few more accent lights.

Ended up melting my in-line fuse for my amps. I'm guessing that the power wire was touching metal before the fuse and it was a cheap piece of crap. Or, this was due to the fuse being too small for my 1600 rms watts, (can't remember what size it was) so I went with a 100amp when I replaced it.

Towing a washer, dryer and a new fridge to our new house... The Tundra was actually a smoother more comfortable ride with the weight behind than it was without. And only in Brazoria County will you see a Tundra on 26's towing a horse trailer.... Many of my friends made that comment, along with too many ones to list.

I bought it from www.metrorestyling.com. Here's exactly what I ordered... It's not a perfect match, but it's so close you won't be able to tell the difference unless you know.
