Where have you mounted your mic for your aftermarket head unit? I am wrapping up for install of the head unit, amp, new speakers, front and back cameras. This is about the last piece of the puzzle. Thanks.

It's in the overhead console. Little rectangular slots on the left side, facing down

can you elaborate on this, did you just hot glue the new one in? is there room? did you have to modify the location?

I don't remember having to modify anything. Pretty sure there was space and I used a small screw to secure it.

apologizes in advance...do not want to high jack thread. Can't you use the OEM mic for an aftermarket head unit? I was planning to go that route.

    I don' think that's possible.

by removing the 'stand' off the kenwood mic, it fit it right into the overhead stock location getting creative with some o-rings. it works really well in the location, and its great to not see it.

just unplug it, remove it and stick the new one in with a method of your choosing. you could prob even use hot glue.

disregard the green arrow (was from another DIY)
you see mic in bottom left-ish.
