2nd/3rd Gen PML Deep Transmission Pans will be available around 8/18. Check out the link. There are pics of a 2008 with prototype installed. Pictured is a pan for the 5.7L. Massive....Might interfere with aftermarket skids..or maybe not..

Around the time this will be available my tranny will be due the 90K maintenance. I plan on upgrading to the deep pan. The deep pan is still above the bottom of the frame.

This sounds like a great mod for the Tundra. A couple extra quarts never hurts.

3.25 qts actually. Not bad. I think it's a good mod too. A "possible" 10 to 20 degree F cool down can't hurt. Not crazy expensive either. Cheaper than some CAI's. $345

I like the B&M but have been waiting for some time already for PML to get theirs into production. I prefer the PML design and build. Has deeper cooling fins to help dissipate heat. No logo. Kind of plain looking, but after all no one is going to see it. I would like to see B&M come out with a decent performance torque converter though! The B&M is currently out of stock it appears too. For now.

OK....I just pre-ordered the #11151 Deep Pan for the AB60F tranny. Won't get billed until it ships in August. The pan has thicker walls and more baffling than B&M. PML offers powder coating if you want it but will restrict cooling affect like the B&M which only comes powder coated. But "looks" cooler.. PML recommended no powder coat. See... They know their s**t. Call PML if you want one. Ask for Valerie. You can get on a waiting list or preorder like me and guarantee to get one early. If you tow....a no brainer. Offroad in high heat....no brainer...IMHO......Not a bling Mod...Just sayin...

I had PML front and rear diff covers on my 2500 ram. The rear cover was a prototype part that they gave me for a pretty good discount. I believe pics of my old truck is still on their site. I'll be looking into this part.

That's cool Fireman! I knew about PML from my days living out in Kfornia. Their products blow away B&M. B&M is great but not like PML. PML is exactly like SPC. SPC makes boring looking, highly adjustable UCAs. No fancy paint, fancy stickers, just bullet proof products.....
Now...what the hell? RAM???? Seriously...why a Tundra now and no more RAM? Just poking at you...

Long story short, had an 11 Tundra, needed a Diesel to tow travel trailers in the size we wanted. After 4 years with our camper, it was getting difficult to find time to use the camper due to kids busy sports schedule. So we sold the camper and decided I didn't need a diesel anymore so I got back in a Tundra. Contrary to what many say about Ram trucks here, I had zero issues with my Ram 2500's and miss having it sometimes.

Is this what PML has determined or calculated or is this an industry guesstimate based on similar products?

To many variables. PML hasn't determined anything about how much cooler your fluid may be. PML makes no specific claims. Not like CAI/throttle body manufacturers. PML makes numerous Deep Pans for a lot of different vehicles. There are anecdotal claims of up to 10 to 20 degrees cooling affect. True? Most likely for some. Think about it. There will be a benefit. Simple science. Larger surface area to dissipate heat. Larger cooling fins act as a heat sink to dissipate even more heat. Have you ever seen a transistor with a heat sink on it? Same principle. Even a 5 degree cooling affect is actually pretty good over time. Heat is the enemy for most applications where friction is involved. Our tranny's are bullet proof ..up to a point. If a larger oil pan did nothing more than allow you to have more tranny fluid and nothing else....why even bother? I hate wasting my money. I've done my research on this. Check out PML website. Lot's of good info. Why do you think race/street car owners go with larger pans? Towing under load also puts a strain on a tranny. The cooler the fluid the better. It doesn't take an auto tranny long to over heat at all if you are stuck and spinning your wheels, rocking the tranny back and forth. Quite frankly I wish I had a manual tranny but I have an auto and I want my auto to last a long time. Folks have been running with larger oil pans for decades going back to the 50s. I see so many 1/2 ton trucks towing big ass trailers. I see money spent on air bags, sway bars, and such but the tranny is always taken for granted.

This might be a stupid question, but this extra oil in the transmission won’t hurt anything like it would if you put more oil in an engine?

    yes!

since the trans pan is bigger you will need to fill the extra volume so in this case it won't be considered "extra".
I've never done this but I assume that would be the case. also why use higher volume pan if you are not taking advantage of more trans fluid ...

the gear pump draws fluid from the sump and I assume it needs to have a minimum amount of fluid to work ...
Technically it may??? work without adding extra fluid but that would defeat the whole idea.

Same as me. I check out PMLs site every now and then. The pan finally went from " in development" to production!

Are you going to do the install yourself? It sounds easy: drain the pain, drop it, install new one, and fill with fluid equivalent to what you drained plus the additional capacity.

I've never one a transmission drain/fill or flush. I'd really like to do drain/fills if they're relatively easy to not screw up so that I can do them more regularly as preventative maintenance so in the future I'd never have to do a full flush.

Nope. Can't hurt a thing. You will need to add 3.25 qts. The dealer will swap in the PML pan during fluid change. The filter needs to be checked so the OEM pan needs to come off anyways. The PML deep pan come with all hard and gasket.

The tranny fluid will have to be drained out completely to swap the pans. I don't mind doing the full flush once. Won't have deal with tranny service for quite some after that so I don't mind spending the extra money replacing the fluid which is a bit pricey.

I didn't know that! Just in general do you have to take the pan off every time you change the trans fluid or only if you want to change the filter?
How often do you need to check/change the filter?
Also I assume you need new gaskets and sealant if you drop the pan?

From what I've seen reported here the Toyota tech will usually only drain a gallon out. If the fluid looks good the tech will fill 1 gallon of new fluid back in. Not near as pricey as a full flush which isn't needed in most cases apparently. I suppose if the fluid didn't look right as in over heated the next step would be to drain all the fluid out, drop the pan and visually inspect the filter and other stuff. If all is good..refill and good to go. In this case the tech would no doubt use a new pan gasket. The PML Deep Pan comes with everything you need. Fasteners and cork gasket...If you DIY you will need to get some Permatex sealant.

I'e seen problems associated with aluminum oil pans on iron engine blocks. The different metals heat and cool at differet rates and they often leak. I would like to see if these pans remain leaks free after a bunch of miles.
