Soooo, I was out of town on a business trip and had a call from my wife that my 2017 Platinum had been stolen. Well, three weeks later it was found without tires, seats, wheels or a dash along with a few dozen dents. Yesterday, I got the official work that it is totaled (no shit) and that my insurance company will be sending me a check. Of course the check does not cover the mods I had put into it so I am still out around $2k.

In any event, I am now in the market for a new truck. Of course my first choice is a 2018 Platinum or Limited but I am going to entertain the other brands just to compare features. I cannot imagine going away from a Tundra since I have had two and have never done me wrong.

So after my long winded sob story, I would love to hear what people think of the 2018 Tundras or if I should wait for the 2019 and get the TRD Pro...

I want to wait for the Pro but need a ride now so this weekend should be fun. Hopefully common sense will stop me to wait but damn, I miss my truck :(

Sorry to hear about your truck, my vote, PRO but then again you can turn your Lim or Plat into a PRO with all the aesthetics of a PRO except the bed stamp and interior, door panels, seats

I"d do exactly this when I am ready to get my tundra. You'll get best of both worlds.

If you really want the Pro. you will be unhappy if you buy now. Been there done that. Wait and get exactly what you want, you will be more satisfied in the long run. (you only have a few months to wait)

true - you'd be spending lot more money. I guess it depends on what your taste is. I wouldn't be lifting nor off roading the truck so for me i'd like to have the luxuries and features over a "Pro" stamp.

    Flux capacitor!
Sorry to hear about your truck. That’s definitely a crap moment. On the next vehicle you may want to look into a tracking system. At least then you will be notified of anything like alarm going off, movement of the vehicle and tracking it. Also most insurance companies do offer separate policies to cover extras installed on your truck. Just save all the receipts and take photos of all the model or serial numbers. I always do this for moments when your stuff gets stolen or destroyed. Best of luck on the new truck and hopefully you get another Toyota.

Sorry to hear this. I think the next gen of pro will offer features like leather and sunroof. But knowing me, I'd probably end up switching out the suspension for extnded travel. If you're not super into wheeling or big mall crawler lifts it's probably worth it to wait for the Pro.

I'd get a plat and make it look like a pro, or whatever you want it to look like. I wanted the pro back in the 17 year model, but i"m extremely happy I went with the plat.

Sorry to hear about the theft.

What about buying a beater with a heater/and AC until the fall? I could only think of how much more you will love the 2019 Pro.

Get a limited and use the extra cash for TRD Duals, Grill, hood, and your own suspension setup (ADS, King, Fox ect...). Plus limited gives you more options.

First off sucks about your truck, that is such a shitty thing to happen. I like the idea of pre ordering a Pro if thats what you want, getting a cheap car until its ready. If you really want a Pro don't settle.... thats my advice.

What's the point of all of these dealer programmed chip keys if they don't prevent theft?

Was the truck towed or driven off?
