    Blew one of the 5-year old Pioneer component speakers in my Tacoma; I bought a JBL component system on Amazon, and my neighbor and I installed it!

    @Marty McFly

    The speakers came with these nifty little emblems, which my neighbor superglued to the factory tweeter grilles!

    @Marty McFly

    I've got a girlfriend now too! She doesn't drive (yet), but she loves my Tacoma (trying to entice her to get her learner's permit by promising her she can drive it)!

    I handed her a screwdriver and let her unscrew the panels when my neighbor put the new speakers in...

    They kick the shit out of both the Pioneers they replaced, and the factory system in my dad's 2013 Honda Pilot!

    :wave: Hi, Charlie!

    I like the looks of this one. Still not-so-secretly wishing for an early gen 4x4 to play with.
    Bummer you blew your speakers. I definitely lean toward sound quality over quantity; have always worn earplugs to rock concerts-- so I definitely cannot relate. I think it's cool your neighbor was able and willing to install your new components; it's awesome to have friends willing to share time and skill!
    And great that your girlfriend likes your truck and is willing to spend time participating with you in stuff you enjoy. :thumbsup:

    One of the beer truck drivers who makes deliveries to the bar where I work drives an '07 Tundra Access Cab Limited 4x4 (obviously he doesn't make beer deliveries in the Tundy; I've never even seen this truck) that he's owned since new. He told me his truck came from the factory with a backup camera and that the rear view image appears on a large screen in the dash.

    I know for a fact that the tailgate handle backup cameras became standard on all Tundy models with SR5 trim and above, beginning in '09. My uncle drives a 2012 Access Cab Short Bed SR5 5.7L 2WD, and the camera screen is this dinky little thing in the rearview mirror.

    So, did the 2nd Gen Tundy in fact come with a backup camera from the factory, or does the beer guy's truck have a dealer-installed setup that he thinks is factory?

    I know for a fact that 2005-2008 Tacos don't have backup cameras, and that 2009-2015 come equipped with them on all models SR5 and above. I just assumed 2007-2008 Tundras didn't have them either, regardless of trim level?

    This one's a bit of a beater, but it's still a nice color and it's got the 5.7L! I also believe it's a 2WD, but I can't tell for sure. All I'm going on is the fact that it has no "4X4" or "4WD" emblems whatsoever, and it seems a bit lower than a 4x4...

    What year was it, and was the backup camera in the tailgate handle, above the license plate, or somewhere else?

    Can't say for every model, my 2013 crewmax does, but a 2011 on the lot beside it didn't. I actually wanted the older truck until I found out it didn't have one. Too long of a truck not to have a camera.

    My 2007 Limited Crewmax 4x4 had came with the camera in the handle and it showed up on the dash screen. My friend had a 2008 model and the image showed up on half of the rearview mirror. I liked my setup a lot better.
    Mine was factory, I'm pretty sure his was aftermarket by the dealer. After about 4 years of ownership, my camera died. I bought a new one to replace it and it wasn't a match - pretty sure it would have worked in his truck instead. I still have that camera somewhere...

    The way it works with Tacos is that all 2009-newer 2nd Gen access cab and double cab models with SR5 trim (and the ultra-rare regular cab SR5s) came standard with backup cameras. All 2009-newer regular cabs and base model access cabs and crew cabs came prewired for backup cameras (like my truck). As such, my neighbor was able to hook the aftermarket Clarion camera into the factory "reverse wire."

    Limited starting in 07 always had backup camera.

    SR5 with I believe the tow package (possibly other combinations) from 07-09 were prewired for a backup camera accessory. The OEM is discontinued but Rostra sells an equivalent kit.

    All 2nd gens with OE backup cameras had it in the tailgate handle.
