Anybody have a long travel kit for a 1st gen?

    Ive been searching for a long travel kit for my 05 first gen since I recently decided im going to go all out and build this truck but i havent been able to find one. Anyone here running one?

    Other guys on here run his stuff also. They are happy with their setups. I'm from San Antonio also live in Vegas now though.

    No I like Vegas. The offroading out here better and got California, Arizona and Utah close by also for great offroading. Had fun mudding and stuff in Texas but the desert is more fun at least in my opinion.

    sorry im late to the party, but i highly recommend BTF kit..Brandon and travis do amazing work, i have installed many of thier kits. I also run thier kit on my tundra! Only LT i will buy to be honest... Kit comes complete, pulls 15in of travel metal to metal, and about 13.5 strapped (real numbers) i beleive its 4.5 over per side.

    BTFFabricafion looks pretty good, i think i will be settling on this one! I never understood that strap? I can see how it shortens the travel but what is the purpose? Sorry im a new sport

    It keeps your suspension from drooping too much and causing a huge failure.

    Feel free to reach out to me with any questions, I personally own both a 1st gen and 2nd gen LT Tundra, my little brother also drives a fully built 1st gen tundra. My kits are well built, race proven, and Toyotas are what we specialize in. My kit is 3.5" wider per side and good for up to 14" of travel.

    This is probably a dumb question, but does anyone do extended upper and lower control arms that don't need to be run as a full long travel kit? As in, if I just want to utilize 33" tires on a 1st Gen, get a wider track, but run Bilstein 5100s and a some bigger springs out back? We're talking maybe 1-3" lift, tops.

    It sounds like no, from the research I've done. Widening the track requires pushing on the spindles, which necessitates longer axles. At that point, you might as well go long-travel and be done with it.

    It seems like the only way of widening the track on a 1st Gen is to buy lower offset wheels. That comes with plenty of compromises as well. You go from spending $3000 for a LT kit, to spending $1000 for wheel tire combo, then replacing tie-rods, ball joints, and wheel bearings more often. At least in theory.

    Some have mentioned that doing a UCA only could help with wear-and-tear on a vehicle with drastic low offset by reducing the stress on the ball joint. That's out of my ballgame in terms of knowledge, so I'll let someone correct me on that.

    I don’t think tie roads, ball joints, and wheel bearings need replaced as often as ya think when lifted. Granted, I’ve only had mine lifted for 9k miles, but I can’t recall anyone having to replace em off the top of my head.

    Can’t think of any of the LT boys even having to replace theirs recently that I know of. I’m sure there’s a few that’ve had to, but I’d think it’s likely tied to how hard you wheel.

    Most LT kits dont utilize stock ball joints, so there's that. Wheel bearings are a different story.
