So we’re taking a family vacation to Tampa FL soon (we are staying at Madeira Beach).

Looking for restaurants and family friendly attractions in the Tampa area.

We like a variety of food and tend to stay away from chain restaurants. Any suggestions (and a sense of priceness too) for good food?

Where to go while we are there? We already planned on Busch Gardens and plenty of time on the beach.

Once again, I’m sure you guys will have suggestions on how to spend my money. Thanks in advance.

Busch Gardens was gonna be my first suggestion. Your kids will have a blast there. There's also a nice water park across the street from it called Adventure Island. The MOSI museum is also nearby. Not sure if you guys are into that sort of thing, but it's a pretty big deal as far as museums go. Very interactive.

Check out Ybor City, very cool historic part of Tampa.
And definitely go the Columbia Restaurant. Google it, it’s a must IMO.

Then drive south and fish with me.

Also, for food, check out Bernini’s and Carmine’s.

I was going to mention the Columbia! Love that place. First restaurant I thought of. However, I was concerned about Ybor not quite being the "family friendly" setting he was looking for.

Great restaurants in Downtown St. Pete. Cafe Cibo on 4th street.
Beach Dr in downtown St Pete with a short walk to the Vinoy.
Tampa from Madeira is at least a 45 min drive depending on traffic. Also have to cross a bridge that is regualarly backed up for miles.
John’s Pass right in Madeira. From Madeira Beach you can take Gulf Blvd north to Clearwater Beach with a few little towns in between or head south to St Pete Beach,or head to Ft Desoto south of there. Gulf Blvd is filled with mom and pop restaurants. Frog Pond is a must for breakfast.
In Tampa you have the Florida Aquarium and Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park. Both great for the kids.
Been in Pinellas County 30+ years. Let me know if you have any questions when you get closer to your trip.

Do you have any military affiliation? The wife and I rented a boat at Macdill AFB and puttered all over Tampa Bay a couple years ago. It was a blast.
